High pitched buzzing sound coming from under the rear of my G
Hey everyone, im new to G ownership I bought mine 2 months ago and its mostly been sitting but ive been driving it a bit once a week. Its got 212k km on it and a few things done to it but nothing done to the engine. Last time I drove it I started to hear a high pitch buzzing noise when the car is in idle coming the from under the rear between the wheels, moreso on the passenger side it almost sounds like speaker feedback and I have the bose sound system ive heard that is problematic but its completely off when this is happening, from
what ive read it’s probably the fuel pump but im not sure my friend mentioned dif whine but it happens in idle so I dont think thats what it is. Ive read a lot of threads about this but its hard to know if people are talking about the same noise. Ive attached a video of the sound recorded from the passenger side. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as im kind of worried. Would I need to replace the pump? People said it can drive like that for a while or its fine and just loud but it doesnt sound right to me.

Does it make the whine when you initially turn the key *before* you start the engine? The fuel pump primes for second or so when you initially turn the key.
If you can narrow it down to the pump, then its probably worth the time to replace it prior to it leaving you stranded....

and when I see if it makes the noise while priming should it be from a cold start? Like if I start the car before and it primes will It not make the noise because theirs already pressure built up?
The system doesn't prime, this is a returnless system so it maintains the fuel pressure even with the key off. Take a video of the sound and post it to youtube then put the link here and it will embed the video.
also if the system doesnt prime I wont be able to hear it in key possition 2 with the engine off?
Sounds like a fuel pump whine to me, if it makes the sound for about one second with the engine off and key turned to ON position then it's almost definitely the fuel pump.
Is it loud inside the car or something? If you don't hear it inside the car then I wouldn't worry about it.

Video of sound
hopefully this works I tried to attach before but it didnt work

EDIT: Remove the rear seat cushion, two tabs in the front of the seat you pull forward then lift the seat cushion straight up. This will access the pump and sub pump flanges, it should be a noticeably louder sound if it's actually coming from the pump.

I also noticed that im actually getting water leaking into the rear drivers side seat and the floor matts are damp any ideas what this could be?
on top of that I noticed the drivers side airbag tab is missing on the pilar does this mean its went off? It doesnt look like anythings been repainted on the car but maybe it was in an accident? Theres none ever reported on the cars history.
This is my first car and im pretty inexperienced with them in general but Ive been researching for a while and an willing to learn, im an electrician by trade so ive got no issue getting my hands dirty. Any help is greatly appreciated.
It turns the fuel pump on for 1 second yes (all gasoline cars do this as part of the pre start self check), but it doesn't need to build up a prime since it's already under pressure.

Leaks are a pain to trace, but I would start by clearing the sunroof drains (there is a sticky on this somewhere - I like to use weed eater line chased by warm water or compressed air). I'm currently helping to restore a car that sat under an oak for two years and has crazy water damage in the cabin from pollen and debris clogging the drains. The suspicious pillar cover may actually point to the source of your leak as the sunroof drains run down each pillar with connections/points of failure along the hose.
For the whine, try pulling the radio fuse and maybe the acc fuse to eliminate any weird speaker/amp interference stuff. My old honda had a poblematic oem amp that made weird static pulses only when the engine was running through the rear speakers when the radio was off and pulling the acc fuse was the only thing that stopped it.

I also started hearing a “wubwubwub” noise coming from the rear of the car and it is clearly rotational I think it comes from the wheels, it speeds up and slows down with the car, any ideas? Maybe I just need to balance the tires or do an alignment. But I also read it could be tire tread separation and my friend who knows quite a bit about cars said it could be my breaks as I havent been driving it much so they have been getting rusty and the handbrake has been on so maybe the pads are getting stuck or something?
wubwubwub sound from tires is almost always worn/separating tires. Sometimes wheel bearings but on our cars those typically make more of a steady "whining" sound.
