What is underdriving?

 

You have to give us the context of the word. Obviously, it could mean "Driving less than normal." This could either be driving your car less than you should, or underdriving your accessories so you lose less HP between the engine and the wheels. I would go with the latter explaination.

Then yes, its what I said in the latter part of my post. You are underdriving the accessories so your A/C condensor, power stearing pump, alternator, and all the other pullies are using less power because you are spinning them at a slower speed. This is good in the effect that it gives you a few extra HP at the wheels (less parasitic losses), and it puts less wear on the parts because they are spinning less, but the side effects are that you get less charge from your alternator and your PS pump and A/C are also slightly less effective (you probably wouldn't even notice though).

Grounding cables are the biggest waste of money ever created. They are a ricer mod. Unless of course your car has faulty grounds, then it would be a good investment

Underdrive pullies are a very good bang for the buck mod. They usually free up about 5rwhp for under 350$, but that all depends on just how underdriven they are.

Oops. I am used to Mustang part prices. You can get a nice set for a mustang for about 80$

 

Wizzathe1337, clemens9 is dead wrong about grounding kits being a waste.
Also sense you have an AT you can gain a lot more from a grounding kit than any manual tranny will.

If you are going to do it, contact GordGee via private message on this board, his are outstanding, but don't cheap out, get the fullblown 10 wire performace kit from him.


Clemens9 - I don't want to hijack this thread, but a GOOD grounding kit properly installed is useful on almost any engine theses days. And in the case of an Auto Tranny the improvement in MM shifting or shifting at WOT is worth it by itself.
I can understand a driver of a Manual Tranny not seeing/feeling a lot of difference, but it is there, and a an auto driver - this is a must have.

 

I dunno, I guess I am just used to a Mustang guys approach. If they work, then more power to you.

Sorry. There will be a lot of people here that will tell you that the ground wires are very crucial to making the GEE" perform. I believe in them and no way would I take them off.
Of course you can have a slow car and its OK with me. The ground wire mod is one of the best bang for the bucks deal. Enjoy your car like I do.
