Mazda RX8 vs. G35 coupe

Which one do ya think is better car overall? Car & driver and Road & Track chose mazda RX8 over G35c and cobra SVT. Not bad since it has 4 door I guess and great rotary engine. What do ya think? And please dont say G35c just because these are G35 forums. Put some reasons and stuff.

Thanks

If you don't like to rev the engine high, stay away from the RX8. If you do, either car is a good choice. The rear doors are cool, but you can get that in a Saturn Ion Coupe, too - Saturn's been doing that for a few years now.

The G35 wins in the luxury amenities department. The RX8 doesn't even try to compete here. If you don't want a luxury-sport coupe, but just a great sport coupe, then the RX8 would be the winner.

Rotary engines are cool. But, they're not as fuel efficient, and they burn oil.

Personally, I like sedans, so I'd be more interested in the Mazda 6 than in the RX-8.

You're going to get a pretty biased response here, but I (of course) think the G is better. The RX-8 has its advantages, but here are it's failings compared to the G:

1. Not as fast
2. Not as luxurious
3. Not as nice looking (opinion)
4. Rotary has not yet been proven to have high reliability
5. Ride quality is better on G
5. Mazda dealership service can't hold a candle to Infiniti's
6. Even rotary issues aside, Mazda's reliability doesn't match Infiniti's

Advantages vs the G:
1. Better handling
2. More sporty (debateable I guess)
3. 4-doors but looks like a 2-door
4. Better gearbox?

I think the G's advantages far outweigh the disadvantages and that's why I like the G.

I myself prefer torque-y engines to high-rpm engines. I like a car that keeps the back of my head glued to my chair.

LOL! That picture is hilarious.

As far as the engine goes - wait till they come out with a twin turbo....(hopefully we'll have one too by then though).

Sup Shelly,

The rx8 only beat the G by one point .... that whole rating thing they did, point by point could have gone either way and the G coulda won in some categories like the gearbox ..which I beleive was way too low for the quality that the g has..... some other scores were abit low IMO also

anyway... yeah.. NOT biased here ...

Re: Mazda RX8 vs. G35 coupe

I'd pay 25000 for the RX-8....
to think that a fully loaded RX-8 would cost me 35000 is rediculous.... plus the mark-up the dealers are going to add...
I'd rather spend the 35000 on the new STi than the RX-8...
