Fuel gage not reading properly. Have a P0462 code (Fuel level Sensor Circuit Low Input, which means the fuel level sensor is no longer taking correct readings) and based on the research I’ve done it seems that the cluster needs to be repaired. I already replaced both sending units with no change. The gage never travels below 1/2 a tank. 1/2 is empty. Any thoughts?

U can try to repair it yourself if youre ok with electronics. Check out the pictures on page 5: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...etailed-5.html

Measure resistance across pins 2 and 5 on the pump, 1 and 2 on the sub pump. Make sure they are actually sending the correct resistance from full to empty.

Typically that code means an issue with the floats themselves or the WIRING, not data being interpreted by the cluster wrong.

Looks so easy, literally a few resistors in red.

OP any laptop repair shop / electronics repair shop can do this.

Or buy a soldering iron and do it yourself.

The tricky part is getting the indicator needles off, and then installing them in the correct position during reassembly.

Just put the instrument cluster into test mode first and mark locations, put tape behind the needle and make a mark on the tape exactly where the needle lines up. Do this for all the gauges. When your repair is finished, put the cluster back in test mode again and install the needles.

You will need to remove the clear plastic cover from the instrumentation to do it, and make sure you use some kind of tape that won't accidentally peel off, yellow or orange 3M Super 33+ electrical tape works perfect.

I just took a picture of the cluster in test mode before I took it apart

Is this a bot using AI to pick up words from this thread?? 🤔

Yeah it's a bot, just keep using the report post function so I can get on it early. Yes you have spotted the pattern too...
