G35 Coupe- Tuned, Ingen intake, 265/35/18's F+R and cat back exhaust
Exclamation The $800 2004 G35

So I finally got another "Z car" after having a 79 280ZX 2+2 from 1986-1992. And not unlike my last one, this one is starting out as a project! 177k miles, Automatic, black leather (whats left of it), Bose (did they all have that?) and questionable engine, trunk release button inop, no fobs and one key, needs a clearcoat respray on the hood and spoiler, Like a needy mate, she is going to take up all my time if I Iet her and we can hope she will be worth it!

It had fresh oil down both front sides of the engine cross member, maybe oil cooler hose? Other possible culprits in the area? Once it gets warmer I am going to jack up and investigate
It has multiple cylinder misfire code on the obd scanner
I noticed a hint of fine metallic on the dipstick with the oil. Going to cut open oil filter and hope for the best.
When I try to start it, the motor is not frozen, turns smoothly, but is not sounding close to running, and I heard a misfire thru the intake whilst doing so.
No external rust, but alittle on the inner rear wheel arches. Anybody sell repair pieces for that?

What are good sources for some used decent front seat leather parts or some 5 point seats if OE seats are hard to come by?
How much Hp is the Auto tranny good for?
I may do a twin turbo setup on it once I get it sorted (it may need an engine, or at least an overhaul- I hope not!) and will look for a piggyback plug and play computer for it..

Is there an Altar to lay an offering for the Z car Gods for consideration and mercy? I bring them a matchbox car!

The Bose was an upgrade that only some of the G35’s got.

There is a switch inside the glove compartment which enables/disables your trunk button. Maybe its just switched off.

From what I’ve gathered from others on this forum: The automatic transmission can handle about 500hp. And the stock engine can handle somewhere between 400 and 500hp before the connecting rods bend. Some people have been lucky and able to push more power without failures. Some have been unlucky with their rods failing just above 400hp.

Thanks for the information! I may pull this engine and then fix whatever kicked it, and drop in some decent rods and pistons too.
I have a trunk release on the drivers side down by the bottom left side of the dashboard, maybe that one is controlled by the glove switch as well.
I think i was reading 410, no 409whp rod limits on one thread too.
