Question Speedometer not working

Hey All,
Just acquired a fun 2006 G35 Coupe and had some issues getting it running. After a bit of work, it now runs fine except for one main issue. The Speedometer does not work at all. The Odometer and Tachometer both work fine. I'm pretty sure the instrument cluster was disconnected during some of the work I had done but everything else in the dash works fine. Is there any way to test the speedometer itself using some sort of electronic signaling? Thoughts?
Dan

Yes, there is a diagnostic mode for the gauge cluster (combination meter). Download the FSM for your car at nicoclub.com and look in section DI, "combination meters".

I Noticed that the cruise control stopped working and then started working again. The SET light was intermittent and would work sometimes and not others (even when the cruise was functioning ok). So, wondering if maybe the dash panel connection was not securely reestablished when last the car was worked on? Is this something that is easy to unplug and replug to check this hypothisis?

Hard to know the exact issue, but these symptoms were what I had in my 2006 sedanX (RIP) as the clock spring was going out. Replacing it took care of the intermittent cruise control and SET light issue.

Interesting. Did the Clock Spring impact the Speedometer function at all (not sure why it would) but just checking as I'm not sure I'd replace it right now if only the cruise control issue would be affected.

Thanks for the suggestion though. It makes some sense.

No issues with the speedometer, just the cruise.
