04' Rims/Tire options

Hey, I have a 2004 G35 Coupe 5AT, I got it about 3 and a half weeks ago and have about 1350 miles on it. We got a great deal on the 04 leftover, but I didnt have much to chose from. I wanted the upgraded 18" rims that the car comes with, but I only had a few G35s to chose from, and I chose the color combo I wanted most (Diamond Graph/ Black int) since we were offered a fantastic deal on the leftover. This model came with the stock 17" rims, and I am looking to upgrade them to something nicer. I was interested in the 18" rims that were offered as an upgrade, but I understand that I will need new tires if I get larger rims.

I am not exactly clear on the whole deal with this. If I wanted to get aftermarket rims, would I have to get 17" so I could keep the same tires? I do really like the 18" rims, but I also heard that this gives the car a different ride, is this true as well? What are some of my options when it comes to this? I would be willing to go aftermarket, but I would prefer to get the stock 18" rims, since I really like those. Would my best option be to look into someone who replaced those 18" rims and buy a used pair of those and just get new tires along with them?

Thanks.

Sell your stocks for about 1200.00 and buy some PIAA 19's or volk 19's. You will be out of pocket anout 1k and have something that looks stockISH and sets you apart from the rest in your city.
