19" tire size question
19" tire size question
Hi all,
I am having an issue matching tires front/rear by brand.
I have a great set of 245/40R19 Toyo on the rear.
My front 245/35/19 on the front are completely shot.
The style of tire I have is not available in 245/35/R19 to replace the front.
My question is: can I run the 245/40R19 in the front and do a 255/35R19 in the rear so my tread patterns match?
The 245/40R19 is 26.7" tall and the 255/35R19 is 26" tall.
Is a shorter rear tire an issue with VDC at all?
My tire guy is telling me that many staggered setups are taller in the front than rear.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all in advance.

Use this site, put in the two numbers.

As long as the tire size diameter is less than 3% difference you should be ok.
I didn't run the calculator but my gut feeling is PROBABLY yes (being ok with the VDC system) because those two sizes are pretty darned close to one another. However running a smaller rear tire is probably going to look wierd. Normally your rear tire is around 1/2" larger on a modern staggered setup.
Play with the calculator.
