I have a2004 Infiniti G35 sedan and it shut down on me a few months ago. A friend and local mechanic ran a test and it shows as a P4 code? I'm not to familiar with codes but I wanted a second opinion. The car won't start. Was driving it when it just shut down. It wants to start but won't turn all the way over. Any ideas?

 

Does it turn the starter and make starting noises or it doesn't even click?

If there is nothing, then I would check things like the switch under the clutch pedal (if you are a stick) and also all the ground wires to make sure they are not broken, and also check all your fuses to see if anything popped.

The error codes are usually 4 digits, like P0430 . That particular code would be a cam sensor error. P4 without the rest doesn't ring a bell to me.

 

Now I desperately want to see a G35 limousine.





As the other poster replied, that's not a valid diagnostic trouble code. It will be a letter followed by 4 digits.

First digit, P - Powertrain, C - Chassis, B - Body, U - Network

Second digit, 0 - generic, 1 - manufacturer specific

Third digit, 1 - fuel/air, 2 - injector, 3 - ignition, 4 - emissions, 5 - vehicle speed/idle, 6 - computer transmit error, 7 and 8 - transmission

Fourth digit combined with the third digit is your specific fault.
