2005 G35 Coupe-Electrical Issue?
2005 G35 Coupe-Electrical Issue?
Hey all...hoping i can find someone who has ran into this issue. I was driving my vehicle the other day and the car literally just shut off. Went to jump it off but it amazingly started all of the sudden without needing to jump. Took it to Nissan dealer and another local reputable mechanic. Car not throwing any codes. Alternator and battery checked multiple times. Car needs new spark plugs but i don't think that's what's causing this particular issue. Of course, neither place could repeat the issue while they had it. Just got it home again and barely started again...almost like the battery is dead. Cannot find out what's up with this issue. Scares the hell out of me to think i could be riding down the interstate and the car simply shuts off leaving me with no steering, brakes etc.
Anybody had anything like this happen?

Could be a cam sensor on it's way out. Since, it's so intermittent it might not set a code yet. You could possibly do some resistance checks, but it might pass and you'd need an oscilloscope to probably correctly diagnose it. You could replace them just to be sure, but then you'd be throwing parts at it.
Does the engine crank fine when trying to start or does it barely turn?
The nissan dealer did the work so yes...OEM. It will crank fine most of the time but today once it turned over with loud clicking like the battery was dead. So frustrating. Just seems like an electrical issue but after having the Dealer and a reputable mechanic look at it...i am at a loss.
