Ecu not connecting with torque app.
Ecu not connecting with torque app.
Engine was recently swapped at fever racing.
this may or may not be related.
BAFX BT OBD2 connects to Torque, but ecu not connecting.
Admittedly I have not researched anything yet...so am being lazy...so I get the responses I deserve..I suppose.
Time to go grade math homework...

Did it connect before the engine swap?
Does the lights turn on when you plug in the BAFX adapter?
Have you tried the adapter in another vehicle to verify it's actually working to connect to ANY OTHER ECU?
Normally it takes a good 30 seconds or so once the adapter connects to torque before I can start pulling ECM data, I just keep clicking the "check for trouble codes" thing on the main screen until it finally connects.

I was going to try it with my mustang days ago...will do "soon." Gotta grade papers first.
I also have wifi forseal on the way.
Q: Is there any nonsense with ecu and motors components on these cars?
Q: Are there any settings I need in torque app, that may have been lost somehow?
Thanks!

No nonsense between the ECM and engine, unless they damaged the wiring on the data connector you should be able to connect to the communications lines.
If torque is connecting to the BT adapter (you can tell by the main screen it will stop flashing) then it's connected. I've never had an issue where I was connected to the adapter but unable to connect to the ECM.
The only other thing I can think of is maybe if you had the early 2003 ECM that cannot be tuned that perhaps there's something wonky with trying to pull codes from it?
You could always drive down to a local parts house and ask them to scan for codes. If they also cannot connect then there might be an issue, I know there is two fuses (one full time power, one power for the k-line on the ECM) that powers the data link connector but your BAFX adapter would not light up if that fuse was blown I think? Or your ECM would literally not have CANBUS working if it was the other fuse.
You can check the FSM section EC it's at the very end of the book under "data link connector". It's usually the very last thing on the book before you get into the spec charts.

Ok...problem was both Bafx units.
one worked once, then never again.
So..One didn't connect to phone at all, the other worked once...allowing me to read the ecu.
Neither passed the palm slap test.
These things have soldering issues.
Switched torque app over to wireless interface selection and the Forseal Obd2 dongles worked great.
Thanks All.!!

Wow I wonder if their quality control took a crap lately or something. I have 4 different vehicles, I have the BAFX adapter sitting in the center console on each vehicle in case I need one, all work fine.
However, if you are switching from one BAFX unit to another one you MUST forget the bluetooth device on your phone in order to get the other ones to connect to the ECM. Your phone will recognize any of them as being the same device, it will sort of connect, however you will not be able to connect to the ECM.
Forget the bluetooth device, add the bluetooth adapter again, then go into torque pro and manually select it from the bluetooth devices list (your phone will connect, then disconnect, the only way to keep it running is manually selecting through Torque Pro if you're using Android 12 or 13), then give it about 15-30 seconds to actually connect to the ECM.
Glad you got something working though.

I did forget each BT device and reconnected to the new one.
I had the same problem with some BAFX I had bought earlier.
BAFX tech said one failing is understandable....let that sink in...but two is unlikely...hmmm.
I have an older BAFX that always worked, but I can't seem to find it.
IMO BAFX has some serious QC problems...besides that, wifi is so easy..
Thanks once again!!
