05 6MT Airbag light Question.

So today I was driving and I noticed I have a flashing Air Bag light, After reading the process I put it in Diagnostic mode and what Im getting is a long flash for about 3 seconds and then a 1/2 second flash.

Ive tried to find the correct code for this but ofcourse It doesnt show from what I seen and I dont have a Airbag code reader.. Im trying to fix this because I hate seeing things that arent suppose to be there. If i am correct this has something to do with the passenger seatbelt pre-tension or something like that but I havent done anything to the passenger seat for this to trigger a code of any kind. I tried resettng it by the reset procedures, Disconnecting the battery and nothing changes.

Am I looking at the correct area as my problem. Like I said previously, Its a Turn the Key, Wait about 7 seconds, It will flash and then about 3 seconds later it will flash real quickly. (1/2 sec) Seems to just repeat the same step from there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most auto parts stores have a scanner that can read chassis codes (starts with the letter C). That would be the quick and easy way to find the code.

If you want to check it yourself you need to put the SRS system into diagnostic mode then it will flash a code sequence similar to how OBD1 worked. Short flashes is the first digit of the error, long flashes is the second digit.

There are steps in the FSM section SRS - Supplemental Restraint System on how to enter diagnostic mode as well as the code charts, and the actual chassis diagnostic codes if you do get it scanned.

Also, you posted that you have a 2005, but the HR engine? Your vehicle should come with the REV UP VQ35DE which is not the VQ35HR.

You are correct and I've changed the heading. I have the rev up model.

Let me see if I can pull that manual and see what the code shows.

Ok, I want to that you AGAIN sir for helping me with this and other issues I have had.

It looks to be the RH side seatbelt Pre-Tensioner based on the codes chart that is in the Manual. Im gonna remove the seat and check everything that the manual states to check. Its just strange how it would just pop that code even though the seat hasnt been removed. Maybe the connector is dirty and just not making good contact. Will reply back once everything is done.

Yeah let me dig around for a thread where another user bought a wrecked G35 and had a bunch of issues with that component. There were a bunch of useful posts.

Ok here it is, it's a pretty long thread but a very in-depth conversation about those components.

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...g-light-2.html

Down around post 20 it gets into a lot of troubleshooting steps, further down on post 30 are some pics related exactly to the seat belt pre-tensioner unit.

Just verify that your code was for the pre-tensioner and not the belt tension switch, two separate items.

Based on the code cart it's the pre tensioner. 3 sec long light with a one 1/2 sec flash which repeats itself.
