Door lock issue- checking with the experts here
Also make sure you get a quality actuator. That for me means a new oem part or used oem part from a good salvage vendor.
The actuator is a somewhat complicated electro-mechanical device that requires precision builds.
You are going to be taking everything out of the inner door to get at it. You don't want to be revisiting the job because of some cheap aftermarket part failing.
Audi....

As always, thanks for the feedback. As frustrating as this car is, I keep looking around.... " What would I buy if I sell this ?" and I don't see much out there that I'm interested in. I don't have the wallet for Porsche, or the interest in American muscle :-)
Thanks. I've been watching some videos, not that I can do it myself. I mean, maybe I could, but it would take a while and I'm sure I'd screw it up a few times :-( But I can see how everything gets removed. The OEM at Z! are expensive, but obviously the smart choice. Like I mentioned, I'll wait until I absolutely have to do it and then do the window and door together...

The G is my wife's car, but she wants an SUV. Once that happens, the G is mine and I sell the Audi.
Interestingly the G just had the trunk latch fail yesterday
No switch or inner trunk cable would open it.
Latch was making noise, so that was good...
I used my palm to thump the trunk while using the key fob to finally get it to open.
Now two cars have a latch to fix, replace or degrease...

Looks like it has never been lubricated!
I used some synthetic grease, as that is what I had around.
It works now, but trunk does not pop up like it did.
That could be dead trunk shocks or tired popup spring in lower catch..
I'll get some lithium grease and degreaser.
I have meaning to get some for a while now..

You might hose it down good with some aerosol silicone or teflon spray first, those will get into all the little crevices better than the white lithium will initially. Avoid WD40, it's just going to attract dirt, silicone, teflon, and white lithium are pretty good about not attracting dust/dirt.
