Need advice for drifting

I have an 06 G35 coupe and I have been practicing with VDC off. I'm able to get the car sideways but don't want to drift too much right now since I need an extra set of rims or tires.

I saw a some videos where people would wire a switch to completely kill the VDC module and cut a wire off the wiring harness that I think kills ABS. Before I do anything like that I want some advice. Do I need to do this in order to drift consistently?

What wheels and tires do you guys recommend? I currently have 19x10.5 rims on the rear but I'm looking to buy a new pair just for drifting. Where do you guys buy rims and tires at?

Any advice would help!

Just get a dedicated set of CHEAP wheels, preferably 17/18" since the tires will be significantly cheaper. Buy the cheapest tires you can afford to learn with, I know a lot of guys who would make friends at the local tire shop and buy used tires just to practice with since you will be trashing a lot of tires.

Get everything used to start with unless you actually have the cash to burn. Craigslist or Facebook marketplace are the usual two.

As for the VDC, yes you will want to wire a kill switch, the most common way is to cut the orange wire pin 34 which sends power to the yaw sensor (not orange wire pin 14 which is for the wheel speed sensor). This disables VDC completely.

If you have a RAS equipped G you can unplug the RAS unit as well.
