Just bought a 2007 G35 coupe

It has Tein Flex Z coilovers , the ride is harsh

I would like to correctly set the ride height to highest recommended setting , and the stiffness to the softest setting

From what I understand , to adjust the rear height correctly, both the dampener height and the spring perch need to be measured and adjusted together

I searched and searched , unable to find Tein instructions for the Flex Z coilovers

Also, afraid to adjust the dampening **** without reading the instructions , as I heard not to go "beyond the 16th click" ... but how would I know which click it is on currently?

Any help greatly appreciated

After doing more research, I believe the correct way to adjust dampeners to softest setting is
- turn the **** clockwise until it doesn't turn
- go counterclockwise 16 clicks
- rear dampeners must be removed from g35 coupe - as there is no access to the adjusting ****

However , I am still confused on the correct procedure to raise ride height , especially in the rear where both the dampener height and the spring height needs adjusted

Go to youtube and search for “tein flex z coilovers adjustment”. There are many videos showing how to do it.

you won’t be able to adjust the spring rates though, so keep that in mind. Unless the bump stops are hitting and that’s the reason for the harsh ride, raising the car up won’t help. If the body is hitting the deck though, definitely raise it.

reducing rebound : compression damping to zero wont make the ride less harsh. Set it to standard. Usually on most rides this is mid way, or approx 8 turns. Too far out and it’ll be bouncy, too far in and it can’t compress fast enough.

Thank you so much for the suggestion.

Yes, the main problem is the extreme spring rates on the Tein Flex Z kit
Spoiler

Not only was the ride harsh,
the car behaved unpredictably on less-than-perfect NorthEast highways with patched pavement,
especially diving aggressively into a bounce when taking a turn on the highway

Ultimately, the drawbacks of the coilovers outweighed the benefits .

I installed OEM 350z struts/shocks and springs all around . The drivability and control is drastically superior with OEM suspension.
Thanks for the update.
