Infiniti G35 Coupe - Rear Interior Creaking Sound
Hi Forum, this is my first post. I recently bought a 2007 G35 Coupe, and I love it. There is one issue though. There has been a rear interior sound that is driving me NUTS. At first I thought it was the Rear Brake light, so I took it off and sound was still there. I then thought it was the speakers, but they don’t rattle. I stripped everything out from the back including seats, rear shelf, everything from the trunk to the point where the trunk and rear were naked. The sound seemed to be coming from the rear shelf area but in between the welded parts of the car, right below the glass. Not sure if it needs to be resealed since water doesn’t get through. I thought it might have been the shocks, but would the sound really travel from down there to up? The sound doesn’t sound over every bump, so I assumed it wasn’t shocks. It happens when i’m driving the car, not when it’s parked. It’s been driving me nuts and I don’t know what to do. Anyone else deal with the same issue?
There are multiple layers of metal on that package tray. You could grab a pack of shims and pound them in a bit between the layers and see if that makes the issue go away, then you would know it’s the two layers of metal rubbing together. Shocks generally won’t “creek”.
