It's about how bad a car salesman (in this case) is wanting to sell you the car. My guess is that you walking into that dealership with that "I have a business degree" pompous attitude leaves the salesman overly excited in helping you leave the lot -- without a car. Fortunately, for people like you there is Labor Day, end of quarters, and end of years -- which means even the worst buyer has a chance to buy a great vehicle at a great price, only because the car salesman has a higher threshold of tolerating pompous bull**** because it's quota time! True story!
In this case, neither salesman wanted to budge an inch because they are selling them all day for MSRP. And your guess is dead wrong, didn't mention it. If anyone is pompous it's you, for generalizing. Fortunately for me, I stick to my guns, and I'll get the car for exactly the price I want. I'm just not flipping out, with the I have to have it now attitude. I posted another thread over the weekend, as I went for a test drive for an '05, and the salesman was cool! Looks like I'll be ordering it very soon as soon as I decide on color. Q4 is great, because APR's are at their lowest to move product off the lot in preparation for tax time. It's also the time, where your work is less. Again, thanks for the encouragement and kind words friend, please continue being a dick on the forum, I'm sure it works well for you

What part didn't you understand about people getting the same car in the 1st quarter for just over invoice, in even the toughest markets?!?!?! You are not accomplishing some incredible feat by getting the price you "want" in December. You have managed to work a deal on a left over, a year old car. And honestly, thats OK, it's even admirable that you can "stick to your guns!" Simply, I don't think your qualified to give car buying advice, that's all! I'm not mad at you, I just wish you had contributed a little more to the thread... I mean everyone knows the best time to buy a vehicle is on a rainy day in December. Unfortunately members want to know how they can get the car the other 364 days of the year, because as you already know, people want their G35's now! In closing, I'll work on not being a dick... but can you work on giving some new, insightful, useful information that people can find valuable today and tomorrow, not 8 months from now?
and thank you for the encouragement!

Agreed
The federal rate has gone up a couple of times so far this year, albeit percentages, but I agree that the incredibly low interest rates that the mfr's offer is going to go away soon. But hopefully we'll get another round before it's gone.
Well I should explained more thoroughly. During the latter part of the year, it's much easier for Joe Consumer out there to purchase a vehicle for a solid price, IE advantageous for the consumer. Sure most people know this already, some don't. For this car, it's worthy of mention because many dealers (and I realize that many are coming down on the price) don't want to budge. Seems this is especially true in the SoCal area. I'm not the only one to point out the fact that after labor day and December are prime times for a good deal, I'm just the one that got ridiculed for it I've seen the same comment from other peeps on this site.
As far as contributing to the thread at hand. My advice on a good deal, find out the Sales Mgr and deal with him via fax and/or email, and do this at multiple dealers simultaneously. Have some patience if you want to save some $. Don't have the have it now attitude. The freshalloy deal with Grubbs is a great tool to use in your favor.
Hopefully sales is happy now

Oh yeah, about your qualification statement The G will be my 10th car purchase, I've only paid over invoice once, because I couldn't wait, bought it the day it came out, dumbass me So I'm as qualified as any other consumer out there I guess
Yeah good luck, I'm sure the waiting is gittin' to ya! Did you get one there with the freshalloy deal or with your own skillz?

Haha...all that said, I now have to admit I'm getting my car from Grubbs at invoice, but not because of my skillz. I have a great dad that is retired military... both our names will be on the title originally, and as soon as the title gets here, I'll have him taken off. Total cost $32.50 and the time it takes for a written affadavit. So no haggling this time around.

Yeah that military deal is awesome, congrats! The '04 was used, had 10k miles. And that is the lowest number the salesman threw out there (didn't even make it to the finance guy), with my credit I have no problem qualifying for the lowest figures out there, got 2.9 on my current car. They are always going to make $, they have holdback $. But I hear you, they need to eat, and keep the doors open. But their job is try and get every dollar out of my pocket that they can, my job is give them as little as possible. All is fair in love and war

That is definitely their job! Your job takes overtime to accomplish . I figure I'll work about 20 hours and lose $300 bucks and call it a week, metaphorically speaking. You're definitely far more disciplined than the average buyer.

But they start out high, usually go through their usual bs motions, trying to get every dollar that they can. "If you'll just take this deal, we'll have you in that car in an hour, don't you wanna drive this thing home?" Not at that price buddy And when they heckle you hard, all it makes me want to do, is do the same, and win. You have to heckle on the price of the car, heckle on the trade if you have one, and used to have to heckle on the finance rate if financing through the dealer. You just got to love the internet though, and I'll give Grubbs credit, their online stuff is nice. The freshalloy gig is sweet too.

Grubbs is definitely second to none. Of course now my dad has put me on a quest to find a Cadillac dealership offering invoice for military
