Start negotiating from a copy of the invoice of the vehicle you want. Tell them you are dead serious in purchasing the car you want from their lot and just ask the salesman for a copy of the invoice.
Research before you buy. The internet is great for it.

I'm in the Milwaukee/Chicago area, and I was able to get two dealers down to $700 over invoice over the phone.
My number one piece of advice would be, DO NOT deal with salespeople. IMHO they're a waste of time if you're really serious on buying if you get your price. When calling, always ask for the sales manager....that's that guy that actually makes the call on what to sell you the car for.

Let's see, I'll post my fun to see if helps you any.
Went to 1 local dealership and talked to a salesman on a used '04 loaded sans Nav. They wanted just under $33, and wouldn't budge one single dollar on the price, and the salesman was a dick. The other dealer (upon me negotiating over the phone) said they sell for MSRP, I laughed at him. I told him that I've read (on this forum) of countless people getting $500-700 over invoice. He said and this almost a direct quote "Best I could do for you is $1500 over invoice, maybe a $1000 if you are dead serious on buying the car.
Now this is with a red one they have on the lot with aero, premium, trunk mat. And it was a MT, he said MT is really rare, so if you are after auto, I wouldn't buy one for more than $300 over invoice, MT, I'd go $700 over invoice and not a penny more. I'm a haggling **** (I'm a business man after all with a degree in it), and I won't pay $1000 over invoice for anything! I'm waiting until after Labor Day or Nov/Dec when I can get one for $300 over invoice, and that is when they'll drop the APR's to get rid of the '05s. Your best deal on buying a new car is always going to be right after Labor Day and the end of the year, or first of the year on leftovers. A good price comes with patience and haggling skillls, like others have said, deal with the sales mgr and screw the rest of them. The sales mgr. will want to move the car, just be prepared to buy it immediately if the sales mgr. is cool. Best of luck my friend.

it all depends on where you at, different states or city might be a big difference. Try to go through dealer's website and email them for quote or ask for internet sales or fleet manager. other options are going through Costco or Sams Auto buying program or there's credit union auto buying service, usually are inv+($300 to 700)... I haven't got my G yet, but that's what I have researched and found... gonna try it out, and hope to get my ride this month or early next,
good luck

Best Time to buy is before the end of March 31st (read below). This would have to be an in-stock vehicle. Search your area for a large volume dealer with a lot of inventory to move (through infiniti's website). Then contact the sales manager to get the best deal.
"Nissan North America Inc. is ready to run a big race.
Today, Feb. 14, Nissan plans to launch its “Race to a Million” sales event. It’s the last push in the automaker’s quest to sell 1 million vehicles in the United States during its 2004 fiscal year, which ends March 31.
The event includes a broadcast, print and Internet advertising blitz. The ad campaign was scheduled to begin in March, but Nissan moved it up to February to accommodate the sales effort.
As of Jan. 31, Nissan and Infiniti divisions sold 825,078 vehicles during the first 10 months of the company’s fiscal year."

not too bad...
I just bought an '05 coupe last month(just mailed in the first payment). I went to the local dealer(Ceritos, CA) to look at an '04 leftover. Sticker was $35 and change. Long story short, they wouldn't deal on it so I bought the '05 instead. Sticker on mine was $36730, and after about an hour of going back and forth, it was mine for $33,800. The '04 would have only cost $1k less, so it just didn't make sense. Besides, I now have a nice '05 Lakeshore Slate Coupe equiped exactly the way I wanted....

Specs are below > When you negotiate on a car you always (must) talk to the main man at the dealership which would be the Manager of course. The sales person is only there to make a commission on the sale of the car, but has no say so in the final price. So cut to the chase and speak directly to the manager. Dont be scared or shy to talk to them they want to make the sell just start low on what you want to pay, be consistent, he will come back with a higher price of course, then you just meet in the middle. I told him 500 over invoice and he said no, so I came back with 1000 I should have saide 750 at that point but whats 250 when your paying 39000 dollars. So I ended up getting 1000 over invoice which was 2300 off MSRP. I was satisfied.

Yep, Cerritos Infiniti off the 605. Mine is an '05 5AT with premium, wheels/tires, splash, trunk mat, and they even "threw in" wheel locks and an air bag lock.... just what I always needed.
As for invoice, I think it worked out to be around 400-500ish over. $2930 off of list. I was more than happy.
Best thing is, even in Socal where G's are everywhere, I don't see any other Lakeshore Slate(slate blue) coupes around.
