I test drove a 2004 6mt because they still had not received any 2005 6mt's yet in New Jersey when i went to buy my car. I had already done all the pricing stuff over the internet and phone so I knew exactly what i was paying for the car. As we were wrapping up all the paperwork for the car purchase, the my salesman said let me just check and see if there are any in the area with the stuff you want. When he did his search he found that the exact car I wanted came off the trailer the night before at their dealership. When we went out to look at the car ( they had all the newly off loaded stuff in the back) it still had the wrapping on the wheels and the rest of the protective films. He said he could have it detailed and gone over by monday or tuesday the next week (it was saturday) I said that was cool since i was expecting to wait 12 weeks anyway. Well that tuesday we had a snow storm grrrrrrrrr. They said no problem, they could just deliver it to me on saturday if that was ok. I said cool I don't even have to go pick it up. The had drive about 30 miles to deliver the car and pickup the check.

I too did a search on several local dealer inventories and found the car I wanted.
It was hard to find a 6MT without the nav and rear spoiler at the time (mine's a
04 and purchased 8/04).

i headed over there, took a quick test drive on the car that I wanted to make
sure everything was working, no rattles, etc. and took it home later on that day.
been very happy since.

Will i be able to get it on the same day? Or does everyone have to wait a few weeks? Just curious. (If this is a stupid question i'm sorry, Im new to the forum).
I would never buy a car that has sat on the lot for more than 1 week. Any car on the lot is fair game for test drives and salesmen joy rides. If you don't care about break in procedure, then buy one off of the lot. Otherwise, take a car that's inbound or order the car.

It took me a ton of phone calls and inventory searches (the car was delivered 15 minutes prior to me calling) but once I found the car I drove up that day and bought it right on the spot.

I had to get mine off the lot... it was used! And with the money I saved, I have everything you see in the sig + more...

I've invested around $35k all together (excluding labor)

The exact car that I wanted arrived, and the dealer gave me a phone call. A couple of days later they flew me into Dallas from New Orleans, I picked up the car, and came back home that same night. My car had about 10 miles and I was the first to really test drive it. Sweeeeet! :P

I picked mine up off the lot as it was exactly what I was looking for. I had to wait a couple days to actually drive the car home because the car was fresh of the truck and they still hadn't done the initial dealer inspection or detail.
