Re: Am I the only one having issues with seats??

Well Im calling dealer today to discuss this issue. The seat width is really a problem for me and suprised others are not having this issue. Their seems to be a metal type frame in the seat backs which seem to be way to narrow at mid/high back level and I cam feel them grabbing me in the back. Seems to be very litle padding around this area and Im probably not helping by always pushing/pulling in attempt to loosen seats up. So are you folks telling me you can actually fit in between side bolsters? As reference Im a 44in jacket size so Im not like the hulkster. This issue is realling frusterating for me as I love the car but the seat Im am really unhappy with.

The bolsters are certainly snug. Sounds like you've got a defect in the seat. An uncomfortable seat is a deal breaker in a car. Take it in and check out some of the other coupes. Good luck. ...dean

I agree 100 percent with you as does my brother in law I am 220 and 5 10 and find that my right thigh is quite uncomfortable and bruised feeling with time I called infiniti canada and they told me essentially tough luck . It seems to depend on the width of your hips

I don't have any problems with the driver's seat (except for lumbar support tad high) but everyone complains about the passenger seat being too narrow and stiff. I had the car for 4 months now, gonna try to find more portly passengers to break it in.

Re: Am I the only one having issues with seats??

I had an upholstry shop look at my seat, the guy wondered why a car of this type had such crappy seats. These people rebuild seats for a living. He says the lumbar is to high up and the side bolsters are to narrow on the back of the seat, the bottom seat cushion was OK. He can feel the same thing I feel......."It feels like the seat is pushing my upper back forward". I have an appointment this friday to rework the seat. This was not the first Infiniti seat he has worked on either. I did notice that Kirkland Infiniti was just a little to quick to produce the business card for this shop......... the G35 is not the only Infiniti model with a poor seat design.

bryguy35, please post your experience at the seat shop. Sounds like you and your seat man feel the same pain as I do.
Really interested on how your seat reworking helps out this cause. I also agree on the upperback push forward feeling also. Coming to the same conclusion that these seats are porrly desined at best and need to be reworked. Look forward to your response.

Re: Am I the only one having issues with seats??

tommyboy...I had the seat reworked, I do now feel more lower lumbar support and the side bolster is not as narrow. But now the added foam is so hard/firm that it still is uncomfortable at my upper back. i think he added about 1.5 inches at the bottom and started the taper at just below the Infiniti stitching. I will have to have the upper foam section removed and leave the lower lumbar where it is. They said it's not unusual to rework a second or third time. I had both seats done for around $400. I was told a second rework would cost much less since removing foam requires less man hours???

Re: Am I the only one having issues with seats??

tommyboy...... I reworked the seats on my own this weekend. Unzipped the back, unclipped the bottom, and opened up the front part of the backrest. Added foam way down low to create a lumbar. I did have to do some sewing, but it is an area you can't see. What a difference!!!!! And it only cost me some foam and some weekend time. Had I not been able to resolve this problem I was ready to sell the car. If you are handy with taking things apart it really was not to tough to do. The cushion is also more plush than stock.

Re: Am I the only one having issues with seats??

Seats feel high to me compared to the rest of the car. Like I am in a high chair or something. It is lowered all the way but it still feels really high. I guess if the car is going to be above the rest, you need to sit above the rest!!!

The fix is to put the sedan seat in the coupe and give it power recline and memory too. If infiniti can do this, I will trade it in for one.
