Anyone else think the highend is a little weak?

I was talking to a few friends who have recently test driven the g35 and agree that the low end power and acceleration is excellent while the high end power and acceleration is weak. I also test drove a G Friday and did an acceleration test from 60-120 and in the higher rpms in didnt feel like it pulled hard like it did in the lower RPMs. Does anyone else think this is true?

yeah the top end starts to die off but from 2-5k rpms the torque is great. I can definately feel the top end dying cause I'm a honda guy too and you can feel it pull all the way to 8-9500 rpms on trqless honda's . Basicly imo the G is great for gobbs of low end trq but the topend needs to breath better.

Thats Hilarious.. I own a honda accord, my friend owns a TL Type S.. and we both agreed the high end dies off.. Its so unlike you feeling in a Honda V6. To me low end torque was great, but I also want an engine to have great high end. Whats some alternatives to gain high end HP?

Yeah, it was pretty funny.. The dealer tells me "You can let it loose a little, theres no cops until the next exit" As I passed 100, I looked over and he was holding on for dear life.. It was pretty damn funny.

I walked a 330CI last night on the higway coming home from my buddies house at 3AM with no cars on the road. Buy a spacer + a K&N drop in. My car pulled to 125 (which is when I let off) Did you test an auto or a 6MT?

Unfortunatly I do not have the skill to drive the 6 speed MT. I drove the 5 speed automatic.

I've got a plenum spacer and an intake and I still think the top end is a little weak! I raced a modded Suby WRX from a roll and we were locked dead even till the bitter end when he left off.

Granted you could sway that several ways. First off he had a downpipe, STi exhaust, and flashed ECU where he could optimize boost. But still ! On the other hand I've got an AT and the G weighs a lot more than a Suby.

I took 5th gear to 125mph, I assume the AT would be in its final gear by then regardless how you drove.

The top end is very weak on this engine and needs some work, but not at the expense of its low-end power. The K&N, Z-tube and Motordyne spacer do work but not enough to my liking. Maybe the answer lies in FI, but it is not something i want to achieve in this classy automobile.

I would get myself into way to much trouble with boost, my theory is if im gonna spend money on a mod, im gonna dam well use it! And it would ultimately lead to being arrested for speeding withing a week.

yeah.. the top end is pretty weak. I raced my friend's m3 from 80 to 145 MPH.. I dropped to fifth and my friend stayed at the sixth gear. up to 125 MPH we stayed the same.. after that the m3 starts walking slowly.. at the end my front bumper was at his door. the worse part is that he did not even switch the sport button on. Damn.. m3 sure is a fast car.
BTW, we both have 4 people in our cars.

Thats Funny the guy told me the same: He stated " open it up to see what it does " BIG MISTAKE. I hit the on ramp which had a nice strong curve at 80mph ( heard those tires roar ). When I hit the straight away on 95 I floored the car crossed over two lanes till i hit 115 mph. He told me that the exit was comming up so without slowing down I crossed back over, got off the ramp and hit the beaks pretty dame hard to see how the car would react. Needless to say i think he SH*t himself. No need for the seat warmers. HEY at least he got the sale!!.
