Front Plates?

I have a quick question from a new owner. I've just moved back to Cali from New York and am wondering about front license plate requirements under California law. Are they required or is putting it on the front windshield sufficient? It just looks so much better with a clean fender that I'd hate to ruin it with a license plate. Does anybody actually attach the front plate on their coupe? Thanks!

Re: Front Plates?

The law requires the front plate to be visibe from the front of the vehicle. It does not neccesarily have to go on the bumper, as long as it's not obstructed. I will not be putting my Cali front plate on as it detracts front the cars looks.
I'm going to get an undermount license plate frame holder and attach the plate to it and leave it off the vehicle. If I get a fix-it ticket I will put it back on to clear the citation and the remove it again.

Re: Front Plates?

Wasn't there a post awhile back about someone creating a temp. front plate holder? I'd really be interested in that, esp. with the crackdown the cops are doing at night on sunset blvd. They've been pulling ppl over for having a hair outta place.
