Just thought i'd share!
So if anyone remembers, just months after having bought my coupe, i got stuck in a flood in which hydrolocked my engine and rods and other things in the motor went to $hit. Anyway, it was fixed, or so i thought. It turned out that against recommendation of the infiniti dealer to replace most of the motor, the insurance company suggested otherwise and i got a rebuilt engine out of it with the rods pistons and other minor parts replaced. The dealer suggested that i inform the insurance company and complain about it, i did but they still only allowed repairs for what they belived needed to be fixed. and so it was done. months went by with no problems and then just about the time i replaced the air induction with an INJEN my car was making a funny noise which most of you read several post to try and help me trouble shoot since i was convinced it was due to the the Mod of the INJEN. Well nothing helped even after replacing the stock filter and then took it into the shop. they said it just needed an oil change even though my 15000 tune up wasnt due for another 3 thousand but i aggreed. Well 2 weeks went by and sure enough, the same damn noise was coming from the engine, that knocking, pinging noise. i then took it again to the dealer and they realized it was much more that just thin oil and that it was due to the $hithole insurance dealer trying to get by with repairing the minimal to save them from paying more. well, as it stands now is that the motor is completely, as the mechanic said, "toast" and that i will need a completely new engine at the price of over 13 thousand dollars. of course it is no charge to me and will be covered as they said by warranty. anyway just wanted to let you guys know and see what you all thought about this. the good thing is is that i get a courtesy car that im ragging the $hit out of and that i get to break in the engine all over again and one funny thing, just got some mail from infiniti which reads that im nearly do for my 15 thousand tune up and includes a coupon giving me a discount price of 273.10. Guess i'll be saving that cost for another 15 thousand miles. anyway, thanks for any helpful replies. Racer X

****** insurance tried to cheap out the repair.
You do get the new motor but only after more inconvenience.
If it were me, I'd change insurance companies. Those guys don't know $hit from Shinola.

i was wondering if you had the injen intake on while you got hydrolocked...cause i would bet the dealer would refuse to fix it if that is the case!
o wait...u were in a flood...my bad..

I agree with gsM... ...change insurance carriers before your next renewal. With that big of a claim, you can be certain that your rates will be increased. They will recoup some of the money they spent on your claim. You can count on it!
You might as well return the favor and leave them hanging.

The way most insurance companies are nowdays........he probably won't have to worry about changing.
After you make a claim of any size that they have to pay off.......
They will CANCEL you.
The claim on your engine would have been covered under your comprehensive portion of your policy since it was caused by a flood. Insurance companies cannot raise your rates on comp claims, nor can another insurance company charge you extra for having a comp claim if you decide to switch.

They should've replaced the motor in the first place. Back in February, I sucked some water in through my Injen. Went to the dealer and told them what happened. They said the if the engine was hydrolocked, that they would recommend an engine replacement and that they had just replaced someone elses engine from the storm before. They just told me to contact my insurance after they checked the engine. And they also told me that they would replce my aftermarket intake parts (Injen CAI, Kinetix Plenum) with stock ones before the insurance inspector came to check the car. I lucked out and the engine ended up being fine. You should definitely change to a new insurance provider if they wont pay for replacement of your motor. If you can keep the old block, you could use that one to build a stroker too!

so i finally got my car back after picking it up on friday and just as i drive away it stalls. boy was i pissed off. not only that but the leather was dirty and one of the inside door handles was scratched. so i complain about the stalling and the rest and it turns out it was a bad mass air. at least they were cool in replacing it knowing i have the Injen Cai on it. anyway i got a new long block, 2 new window motors, new mass air, and new door handle cap. my car is newer than ever and the best part of it is that it was covered under the warranty and my insurance didnt even hear about it. so i just got home and replaced my corner bulbs to match the 6500 head bulbs. i got to say that the PIAA super white bulbs are an exact match in which they give off that purple glow. also replaced the dome lights with the PIAA T6 extreme white and my license illumination with the PIAA exteme white bulbs and will do the headlight strip tomoroow replacing it with the PIAA blue white color high intensity super LED bulbs which i see look great. RX
now i noticed today that my passenger side window rolls up unexpectadly when rolled down. in other words, they never replaced it. when i look at the work up sheet, it looks like they only did the driver side. and i also have this klunk sound coming from the driver front side suspension which wasnt there before the engine replcement. i dont know weather i should complain or just let them know proffesionally. this is beggining to be more of a hassle than anything else. anyway, is anyone gonna respond to my post and give me some insight? seems like im replying to myself herew. later RX
