replacing 05 coupe 19" tires
i recently purchased an 05 MT coupe. i still have plenty of time, but i have been pricing out tires for when i need to replace them down the line. i am running into problems finding matching makes of tires at stock OEM sizes - front: 225/40/19, rear: 245/40/19.
what are you guys buying? are you going with the pilot sports? are you able to go with different sizes in the front and rear? something like 225/35/19 & 245/35/19?
i admit i don't understand the whole measurement thing when it comes to tires besides the last number, so if someone could help me, i'd really appreciate it. what are some good matching (front & rear) tires that i can get, and in what sizes? i happen to really like TOYO tires, but they don't seem to make tires in the OEM size.
and what is this whole asymetrical noise? that just means i can't rotate my tires right? or is it asymetrical tread? i realize that i have different sizes in front and rear, so i can't rotate front to back, but does that mean, i shouldn't rotate left to right on my stock tires as well?

with respect to tire size the first number is the width of the tire, the second number is the percent ratio of the width to the sidewall (i.e. a 30 profile tire has less of a sidewall since its 30% of the width conpared to a 40 or 45) the last number is the rim size.
the reason as far as i understand you can't simply switch the tires from side to side is the directional tread. the only way to do it is to unmount the tire and remount it on the opposite side (kinda annoying)
as for finding the right size, you dont have to use the OEM tire size, you have a little play within a few dimensions. a rim can accomodate varying sizes of tires in terms of width. if you change the tire too much it will effect your speedometer and odometer.
im not an expert but had the same problem when i bought 18's for my accord
hope this helps

if thats what you want, then go ahead, but i would rather go wider, make the first number higher, maybe front: 235/40/19 rear: 255/40/19
now since the second number is a percentage of the first number, since im making the first number bigger, you can also make the second number smaller to compensate... using my numbers will raise your car a tad bit... you can do 35%, but imho it will be too low... ask the experts and see what they say, go to pep boys, just tires or tire rack, see what they recommend...
