Tire Pressure Sensors.. (G35 Coupe)
#16
If they offerd at $200 then buy as many as you can, dealer cost is around $350 each. The sensor and stem is one piece, if one thing is bad they are both bad. If they are loosing air take them back because they are bad! Its not uncommon for tire pressure sensors to leak.
Depending on the model, if the pressure goes below 36psi the light will come on. So if you are test driving a car in a dealership that has the light on either A) the factory didnt initialize the sensors B) the tech didnt check the tire pressures during the pre delivery inspection or C) the dealer has the tires lower than 36psi so the ride isnt as harsh for the testdrive.

tire sensors
JK,
the first thing i did was too soak them.. for a long time, the problem is that the stem istelf is about the size of a pencil, once you holow that out and put a core in it that leaves a very.. very thin wall... it did not take much to turn and snap the stem....I might ry using a dremel tool to cut off the cap.....
I beleive they have to be reset at the dealer.. or progam the frequency or set the proper pressure level....
thanks for everybodys input.. RB

Let me clarify this...
First off, if you want to bash me, don't be afraid to go all the way with it. You don't have to abbreviate everything. My name is Dave Gomes (not DG) and I am the Service Director at Quirk Infiniti (not Q Infiniti).
Let me explain this to you again because, apparently, explaining it to you twice wasn't enough for you to understand how the warranty works...
If I was to put in a warranty claim for all 4 tire monitors, Infiniti would:
a. Bounce the claim because of excessive parts
b. Charge me back for the claim
and c. Call back the parts to inspect them and then I would be put on notice with the warranty dept. for filing a fraudulent claim and I'd be opening myself up to having an audit!
The caps that were on the valve stems were not the OEM valve caps and were not made out of aluminum but out of steel that fused to the valve stems when they corroded (which is why we use aluminum... it doesn't corrode against a brass stem. Steel does.), so if I sent the parts back to Infiniti they would have said the same that I did... the caps had to have come from Town Fair Tire when they installed your snow tires. If you have any idea of how the warranty works, you'd know that if there is a non-OEM part involved, it can not be put through warranty.
The fact of the matter is that I do a lot of business with that Town Fair store, I know the manager, and I told you that Town Fair would pay for them (which it was their responsibility to do) and they did. Town Fair didn't simply offer to pay! They knew that they had done something wrong, otherwise they wouldn't have paid!
I'll put this in perspective... I've had 4 customers come in with all of their warning lights on, traction control not working, and their speedo not registering. Turned out that they all had subwoofers installed and the spot where their power wires were run in allowed water to leak in behind the dash and smoked the traction control unit. Should I have replaced those $988 parts with $400 of labor under warranty??? Of course not! I told them the same that I told you... talk to the manager where the work was done and they will pay. None of those customers pouted about it, or bashed me on some forum, they did what I told them and it got taken care of, just like your problem was. My job is to take care of customers (not push papers ), but also to protect the Dealer from having to pay for other people's mistakes!!!

the last thing I would even think of was to look at the valve stem caps on my new car.... When I had the Snows put on, who checks the caps??? Well ,again it was not me.... SO you can imagine to my Surprise... In April when I went to change over my tires as to why my caps were oxidized... I thought ( in retrospect) new car ,new warranty... dealer will fix.... end of story. Not So !
Yes I did run my Mouth a bit on the keyboard out of frustation... but in the end You were right! I am Sorry for the Bash... You Guys do good work and even when I was acting like a jerk... you remained calm! .
thanks again.. next time I stop in I will talk to you in person..
For the record I had my G in for Brakes.. at 12,000 miles Brakes were OK
and my car looked great when I picked it up.....
The TPMS saga has come to an end !!
