Trick is to keep your momentum and keeping it out of 1st gear.

What do you want to bet that one of the next posts will be "Dude if you're even asking that question, then the 6MT is not for you, get the auto.."

It's something that becomes a second nature after a while.. But to answer your question, if you're getting an '05, the clutch is incredibly light so it won't get you tired at all. All you have to learn to live with is the high engagement point, but it's not that bad. My other ride is an auto and I miss my G even in traffic when I'm not driving it.

Well....I sit in traffic every damn day. 405 south in the morning and 405 north in the evening. I stay in 2nd & 3rd almost all the way. of course there is a big gap in front of me (well...not that much or else I would be causing traffic) but the people that are behind me understand. I don't hit my brakes...they don't hit theirs. The people that don't know how to drive traffic are the ones that hit their brakes the most.

yea... i debating on what type of G to get... i narrowed it down to a g though... idk if i want a sedan or coupe, at or mt... hmmm soo many choices... i kno it will be fully loaded... the lady when i went to test drive, told me to sit in the back seat of a coupe and was like how do u like that... and well i m 6 ft and i had no room, obv the driver seat was as far back as possible, but thats how i drive bc i got long arms, so i got that reach, and so i was like hmmmm sedan maybe? give me inputs, and dont trash the sedan bc u got a coupe please... just be honest...

What is more practical for you? Will you be driving from the back seat? If you are taking people places and most of them are I would say 5'5", then it might be ok. If you don't take anyone anywhere, then you can get the coupe. My decision to get a coupe was that I don't transport people anywhere and if I do, its just one person and they sit in front. The back seat is just for the what if I decide to take an extra person or two. Up to you!

PITA Shifting!!

I got rid of my BMW mt6 540i because of the traffic. I spent more time shifting that beast than enjoying the drive. I even got rid of my Suzuki sport bike (TLR 1000) because there just wasn't any room anywhere to wind that puppy out.

Why don't you get two cars...one AT for the family and one coupe 6MT for yourself!? You're a balla right!? You can afford it. Everyone here is a balla...that's why we OWN G35s!...I hope.

Sometimes I like the traffic with a 6MT...it gives me something to do when traffic is a crawl. I practice shifting throughout the gears with the clutch engaged or practice finding the engagement point in the clutch. I don't do it often though because I'm sure it's not healthy for the car, only when I'm extremely bored

Yea yea yea! I do that too. Plus it keeps me from falling asleep in traffic.

If your family can't drive a manual, how are they going to take your car? And if you're new to manual yourself, you have to realize you're gonna go through a lot of stalling and jerking and whiplash before you learn. And you sure dont want to be toting your family around in the car while that's happening. And if your family is anything like mine, they're gonna hate the loud exhaust and cramped interior of the coupe.. but as with everything else, YMMV..
