Best Radar Detector!!!!

I just got my G and i dont want to be getting any tickets in it too soon, but i have heard mixed things about radars and them not really working, i also heard that the police now use lasers instead of radars, i would appreciate it if someone could tell me of a good radar detector for a good price!!!

The title of your post sounds more like you are bragging about finding a good radar detector rather than asking what is a good one....

I want to buy one but only if its worth it, if its not gonna help me avoid getting tickets then i dont really need it. Worth it is assuming that the cops do not really use laser guns and they detect most police radar.

There are many posts already on the subject - search the forum and google. The top three consistently are:

Valentine One
Escort 8500 X50
Bel 65RX Pro

All pretty good, but search google and you will find out all you need to know comparing those three.

If you are worried about laser, and if it's legal where you live (i.e. not CA), then laser jamming is the way to go (i've heard Blinder is the best - 100% effective by all accounts).

In my opinion the V1 is the best for the money, but that is up for debate. I myself personally have a V1 hardwired with concealed display, and I am very happy with it.

As far as helping you avoid tickets, it's not 100% guaranteed to be ticket proof. Just because your car is equipped with a radar detector, doesn't mean you are invisible from cops. It's there to warn you, and give you time to react. The V1 has what you are looking for though (laser detection).

My SR7 is integrated into the car, but it has worked very well in the 3 cars I've had it in. Uses the same internals as the 8500. V1 is great but there's no way to truly conceal it - which is important to me.

Yeah, I guess if money is not an issue, get a Passport RSX or SRX at like 1500.00MSRP its the BEST!

I have had my Passport 8500 X50 for almost a year now. I have gotten so used to the comfort of one being there that I hate driving cars without one...feel paranoid without it.

hey thanks for everyones help, i really appreciate it; and i know its impossible to avoid getting tickets 100% of the time but anything is better than no detection i guess, but i have one more question though its a really stupid one but: is it illegal in california to actually have radar detectors, and if i get pulled over i should try to hide it, am i correct on this?
