Did your MPG go up after break-in?
Did your MPG go up after break-in?
Right now, driving 100% local for the last week, I'm averaging around 13 MPG which is killing me, especially since im paying around $2.60 for premium. Now i averaged about 25 MPG coming down to San Diego from the Bay Area (i started the trip at 500 miles on the odometer), but driving all local down here in La Jolla, i thought i would be averaging around 16-19 MPG.
So anyway, did any of you 6MT drivers experience a jump in your MPG as you broke it in later on? Help me out! Thanks.

All cars have ECU's...its the computer brain that governs everything and monitors your cars status...thats how check engine lights pop up.

To get optimal fuel economy, you have to give the car 4,000 to 10,000 miles. Most new cars do not truly "open up" until they hit 10,000 miles (this is referring to the car as a whole, not just the engine).
Personally, I get about 19mpg. I do 50/50 city/highway driving, I deal with some traffic, and I accelerate hard quite often. I think my gas mileage is pretty good based on on my driving....consistantly 18-20mpg.

I'm driving like a little old lady for 1200 miles in an attempt not to own a second VQ35 oil burner. My first tank worked out to 20.6 mpg on 75/25 highway/city driving. That included a very light throttle, upshifts at no more than 4000 rpm, and lots of first-second-fifth or first-third-sixth rowing around town.
Twelve to 14 mpg in a 3400-pound car with less than 300 horsepower is pretty pathetic. You guys must drive *****-to-the-wall, foot-to-the-floorboard, zing-to-the-redline with every shift.
Oh how I envy you. (The driving, not the gas mileage.)
