Sat dissapointment

I was told last week by my local dealer that the Sat they had in stock and which was used in the FX45, was cleared for use in my G35c. To make a long story short, and after further investigation, my the service department, found out that Infiniti corporate has not yet approved the existing Sat for installation in the G35. Even if you are already prewired. Seems nobody at Infiniti knows what going on with the Sat for G35's. Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Sat dissapointment

The FX series radio BMC or headend uses a different cable than the G35 series. If your car has the white plug in the trunk next to the Bose amp you MAY be okay. Several of us with January builds are checking the back of our radio/climate units to see if there are 3 or 4 of the din plugs used. The original Port Installation Kit had a 4 plug din system incorporated in the N-Buss cable that runs from the radio to the trunk. The 3 plug system was for the Tape, AM/FM and CD. The 4 plug system is for the Tape, AM/FM, CD and SAT button configuration (also the steering wheel controls) on the dash. There is a second cable required.

Re: Sat dissapointment

i'm looking at phatnoise.com for an mp3 jukebox player in the g35c. this setup only works if you have a 6cd changer connection.. since our 6 changer is built into the headunit i assumed i'm SOL.. but if there is indeed a plug on the back of the headunit for the cd player (and tape, radio etc..) is it possible (in your opinion) to disable the built-in cd changer and use an external one through this connection?

thoughts?
tks

My 01/03 build coupe has only 3 plugs installed on the back of the radio.
One port is open.

Re: Sat dissapointment

boston,
You may be able to connect the mp3 player to the SAT button...that would save you the headache of not having a regular cd-player anymore.
I'm sure it can be done, we just need someone brave enough to investigate. I might investigate this SAT thing soon...

Re: Sat dissapointment

Ditto with my 01/03 build. I took the entire radio/climate unit out and set it on the console. 3 of 4 plugs used. Sigh....No Joy.
