dealer cut my window

i got my g in november of 04 and have put 3000 miles on it. i just recently started wanting to get my windows tinted because of the heat, so i went to the tint shop and picked out some 375 FormulaOne pinnacle tint. the guy looked at my car and said "your window is cut, you have to replace it before i tint the window". now this cut had always been there, but i thought the dealer had put really light tint on my car and scratched it so i didnt pay attention to it. the guy said it looked like the dealer cut the sticker off with a razer blade. i have to take my car in to get checked up soon, so should i tell them to fix it? will they even believe me if i tell them that it was always there?

how long ago did you pick up your car? it's going to be hard to get the dealer to own-up to it if it's been a while since you've had your car. bottomline, ppl should inspect the car at the dealer before you leave the lot and report any problems immediately. if you had noticed the scratch from the beginning, i don't understand why you didn't point it out (even if you were planning on getting the windows re-tinted and you thought the tint was scratched). it's only another bargaining chip for you to get money taken off the total price or free stuff!!!!

anyways, tell the dealer and see what happens. good luck and keep us updated.

I don't think you can cut glass with a metal razor blade. I know you can "chip" glass from a flying rock, but unless someone used a diamond wheel glass cutter, you cannot scratch or score glass with metal. Are you sure it isn't a "hairline" break in the glass? If it is, it may be covered under warranty.

no i'm almost positive it is not a hairline break. i also know its not a rock chip because the cut is on the inside of my window. i'm calling the dealer today to ask them about it, so i hope they will cover it cuz i dont want to have to replace my one of my back windows. good thing the tint guy noticed it because i was about to get some FormulaOne Pinnacle tint put on and that cut would have made that window look horrible. the guy said it almost looks like the dealer used a razor blade to cut off the sticker, but i think i already said that.

You're telling me if I took a razor and ran it across any window on the car that it would not leave a scratch mark? Your windows are glass, no diamonds.
