I currently have a Bell 980; its a few years old but it used to be Bell's best model.... Anyway the ideal spot aesthetically for it is above the mirror which worked perfectly in my previous car, but in my G it doesn't see ka band well when its anywhere near the tint at the top of the window. I see a lot of people put their escorts and v1's on the tint. Such as the picture below, but is this reducing the effectiveness of it? There are a lot of cops here in Chicago with ka band and I would hate to upgrade to a v1 or escort just to find out the tint effects them the same way.

 

The setup in the picture is mine. I have absolutely no problems with Ka. As a matter of fact, most of the bogies in my area use Ka and I have ~99% detection success.

But then again, I have the Escort. – Other brands/models might respond differently.

I like that location because it's a stealth location - it's invisible from the outside.
