Demolished rear tire
Demolished rear tire
Hi guys,
Around a week ago, driving on the Garden State Parkway near Atlantic City, my rear right tire goes flat and then just turns to complete shreds. I pull over on the side of the highway and the tire was destroyed. I have no idea how it happened because I didn't go over any potholes or anything.
Anyway, I've got the spare on right now and need to replace the tire ASAP. I've never had to do this before so I was hoping I could get some advice. I've only got 10k miles on the car (and tires) so its too early to replace all my tires. I have the sports package so I have the 18's and the michelin sports. Do I need to buy the same tire? Where is a good place to buy?
Thanks

First of all, I would have the rim checked out to make sure it didn't bend or get damaged after the tire blew out, especially if you were traveling fast. You kinda have three options it seems like. If you really want the same exact tire, contact you dealership, they'll gladly RIP YOU OFF for a new one. Otherwise you could just go on tire rack or the Internet and check out some new tires. Definately not hard to find a new Michelin Sport for an 18" rim. You could also contact a local tire shop and just ask, if they don't have it I'm sure they can get it.
Finally, maybe you want to go get a new set of bigger rims and tires? Could be a sign that your car is ready for them!
