did i get discriminated at the dealer???

i took my car in to get the scheduled service done. i also wanted to balance my tires cuz it shakes a bit when i'm going 70+ on the freeway. i also asked the guy to check the interior cuz of the rattles coming from the dash passenger side, rear view mirror, and the rear shelf deck.

first, he looked up my info. well, my mom co-signed the car so it's under her name. then, he asks for my ID and looks at me for a while. he gives me the ID back and then says that he forgot to check my birthdate. asked me if i was 21. i told him i'm 26. then, he says it'll take them all day to get these done and he's got no loaners available. i went in around 10AM. i looked outside and saw plenty of loaner cars. he advised me to call and setup an appointment next time to get the rattles check out and also so that he'll have loaners available. so i just asked for the oil change to be done and in the waiting area, i was the only one in there.... i felt like i was discriminated.

do you have to make an appointment to get the loaner cars and does it really take all day to get the rattles checked out???

Did you have an appointment? Why did they ask for your ID for service?

Well, maybe the loaners are all reserved for ppl w/ appts. Or they are just plain rude. I experienced it at the Nissan dealership in town. I wanted to test drive the 05 Z. The first thing they asked me to do was to go in and fill out the finance paper work to make sure I qualify. I am 27, but I look 21. So I showed him my loan paper work from my bank that was approved for 35k. Then he asked for my driver license, that's understandable. Then the salesman wanted to ride with me on the test drive because "kids only take them out to race them."

I would have no problem with that if I was by myself. But I had my fiance there. What was she to do? Stand there for 1/2 until I get back? So I didn't even want to drive it anymore.

So I know what you mean by discrimination and being look down upon.

Are we able to complain to corporate about something like that?

normally dealers schedule out loaners, so that doesn't seem offbase

as far as rattle, according the service manual, chasing rattles can take hours....

My dealer treats me like gold and I didn't even buy the car from them. But, without a loaner scheduled/appt., I am not likely to get one. I wouldn't read into that particular occurrence too much.

The loaners were probably all spoken for. Don't worry about it.

Um...I believe that MOST dealerships require a salesperson to be in the car with you while you test drive it...I live in Los Angeles and have had many (dozens) of "test drive days" where my friends and I test drive every car at every dealership possible, and the salesman always came along for the ride...Buy maybe I'm wrong...

You definitely have to call for an appointment to get a loaner car for sure no doubt about it. You cant expect to get one if you just walk in. I dont think you were discrimated against thats just the way they run their business. Just call next time and then they wont have an excuses.

If I was a dealer, I wouldn't let people test drive cars like the G and Z's by themselves.

My dealer cannot guarantee a loaner unless an appointment has been made and a request for a loaner was put in it.

Yeah it happens a lot where the salesman comes along for the ride. Except this one time when we went to test drive an SRT 4. They guy just said, take it out, come back in 30mins or we'll send the bounty hunters lol haha That was definitley cool. But loaners are usually only by appointment. Also they should be able to get you a rental car free of charge if you wanted one. Thats why mine does.

True, that part has to be a dealer discretion thing. I have known many a person over the years to take a brand new car home overnight or over the weekend to "see if they like they car". It's a good sales tactic, because if I recall correctly, they all ended up buying that particular vehicle. I would have to guess that Infiniti would/could do the same for a serious buyer. for test drive the sales have to be there for insurance to insure the car.

as for loaner i hate about it too, i went in there they told me i need to book appointment also the work has to be more then 2 hours in order for them to give a loaner car, my BMW dealer dont care about that, if they dont have a loaner car, they call enterprize for a rental, and they pay for rental, customer pays nothing only gas.
going back to bmw after my lease is over, i've never had warranty problem with BMW, anything they just replace new parts without giving you hassle

I'm not sure if you were "discriminated" (against) but if they don't send you a customer satisfaction survey I'd say you sure as heck were "disenfranchised". WORD!

When my husband test drove our S2000 the sales guy rode with him, leaving me at the dealer, so I think it’s standard procedure. Waiting wasn’t any fun, but I don’t blame the dealer, who knows what kind of flakes they deal with.

Later on when we were deciding on whether or not to buy the car, he let us both take out the car. Apparently we were gone for a long time because he got pretty nervous, but we ended up buying the car. Actually we always were going to buy it, but we like playing good cop, bad cop.
