Lightbulb Electric Supercharger!!!

Anybody heard about or know anyone who has done this? It seems logical since it does not require engine effort to turn any extra pulleys, and you can even install two of them for even more FI.

Life is not free!!! If it was electric, then the alternator would have work harder to produce the extra boost. All you would be doing is adding an additional step, thus wasting more energy/power. Momentum -> electric-> air flow would have more loss durring conversion than just go momentum -> air flow.

Seems like a sloppy rig job to me. Plus with this e-junk you are talking HP gains in the single digits .. not really a comparison to a traditional supercharger or turbo ..

This is the only "real deal" electric boost I'm aware of.

As someone else said, nothing is free.

It doesn't require engine effort to turn the any extra pullys, but it does require engine effort to turn the alternator to generate the electricity to spin the 'e-ram' And adding that extra step in there increases parasitic losses from friction. Also, it adds wear and tear on your alternator.

Finally, it doesn't really spin fast enough or with enough power to generate all that much extra pressure, and thus doesn't generate all that much extra horepower. Some, but not a lot like a normal supercharger/turbocharger would. Not really cost and/or power effective
