Summit Point is a road course in West Virginia just over the border from Northern Virginia. They do a lot DC area club meets and have open track time on weekends. For novices, they have a Friday at the Track program where you drive with an instructor in the car. Not a bad track for learning how to drive corners.

Cost is between $150-300 dollars. They are building a track in NJ, but its not yet operational.

Where in Jersey are they building thiss track? And also on avgerage how long do you get to drive for? Im a noob when it comes to this stuff, Id rather pay the 300 bux to drive around on a track at 100+ then risk losing a $36,000 car + a Life or Lives...

During events at Englishtown, they have a road course that they use for autocross and handling classes. I saw it in operation during Waterfest last year. I went with my son. Waterfest is the largest gathering in the world of water cooled VW's.

For these meets it seems like A helmet would be required and a logical conclusion. Do you guys know if they rent them there ie: (going skiing and they rent out the skis to you) or do you have to buy your own and then go. Im trying to arange a fun day at the track for my friends and I (all different types of cars) and Im trying to make it not too expensive b/c less people will come then. Thanks for your help guys, uve been awsome

Summit Point provides helmets free of charge. The Friday at the Track program costs about $225 and seat time costs about $200. You have to be checked off on their track to do seat time, though. The Friday at the Track program gives you a couple of short classes on driving on corners and four 20 minute runs (I think) on the track. The website for BSR, which runs the schools is:

www.bsr-inc.com/

The website for the track is:

www.summitpoint-raceway.com/
