10a.m. at infiniti for grinding 3rd gear

3rd gear is grinding in my 03 even if i stand on the clutch. only when i shift quick if i take a second before i put it in 3rd its fine. and coming down from 4th it does the same and sometime after i put it inn the gate its still not in 3rd i have to still apply preasure for a sec. then it just pops right in the the rpm comes way down. maybe bad syncro's think i get a new tranni?????? that would be awsome. anyone else have a similar problem? ohh and my drivers window leaks a little there is a bulliten for that. i did something before it worked for a little while but its starting again. will post tomorrow about the tranni thing.

My 03 just started doing the exact same thing this weekend. I only have 12000 miles on my car. Let us know what infiniti says about it.

i had a similar problem with my older vette. turned out i had a warped clutch cylinder. i had trouble shifting because the clutch wasn't openning all the way. when i tried to shift into any gear above 3rd the gears would grind. when gm finally decided to fix the damn thing the mechanic told me that some of my synchros had been eaten away due to the clutch problem. hope that helps.

have you adjusted your clutch pedal? could be the source of your problem.

I would keep my 04 too with the brembo's and just get the tranny fixed if
that happens on mine. I take my time when I enter the gates so so far
so good.

well the dealer tried to say it was the clutch. i said yea right. took it to a tranni shop they said bad syncronizers the tech put it in 3rd rev'd itlet teh clutchhalfway out and tried to tell me it was slipping. i wanted to slap him. so i said " how about you stop tryin to spin my clutch disc and f#$% it up. let it all the way out and see if it slips then. he did, and the tires spun without the slightest slip of the clutch. he got pissed still tried to say it was the clutch. so i have to drive on thursday to the next closest dealer to get themto look at it. ohh and since the clutch is a wear item. not under warantee. they want 1600 for the flywheel, 4 something for the p-plate,and 3 something for the disc and then another 400 for the install. when teh act street/stip clutch flywheel package is only 947 from stillen. but the tech said that will void any tranni warantee. i told him in not paying that much for a clutch when there is nothing wrong withthe onethats in there.

yeah...several posts about bad synchros...that sounds like what's going on....they should replace the trans under warranty....try a different dealer...that's all I got...crossing my fingers this doesn't happen to my 03...good luck!

richmond infinti great place checked it out said def. bad syncros. and possible clutch damage. still gotta buy the clutch. since the car has 37K on it and im the 2nd owner i think it would be best to just replace it and not have to worry about it for a while. so 1300 for the flywheel clutch and all that crap. way better than 3g's plus labor from CHARLES BARKER in VIRGINIA BEACH, VA dont ever go there. there lead tech has been with infiniti's for 22 yrs, so he has 22 years of being an idiot under his belt. if you ever pass through va and need a dealer i suggest richmond. 100% they have all my business now. have to drive like an hour and 20 mins. but it in the end kool people good techs vs. complete idiots. i mean CB in the beach told me the skyline emblems wont fit because they were for a 350z and i had to buy a $350 grill to get the front oneto fit took it home did it my self on 30 minutes and looks great.
