Like I said, I'm not disappointed in the G whatsoever. I want something w/ more power plus I want to get rid of my 94' 4Runner (for various reasons...insurance, maintenance, etc...) which is why I need an awd. I don't want to spend $10k+ for a substantial hp increase & still risk blowing my engine along w/ voiding my warranty. I've had the G for a 1.5 yrs. & I want a new car & the S4 has everything I want. I personally like the new bodystyle & am not a fan of the M3....so after tomorrow's test drive I'll make my decision. Anyways thanx for all the input.

man I have being eyeing the S4 for a long time... trying to generate the cash to get one.
I am sure you will happy with the S4.

Also there are 2 S4 for the 2005 year. 2005 is the old body styling alsio know as the B6 S4. 2005.5 is the new body styling know as the B7 S4, this one is with the bigger bolder front grill. The horsepower remains the same, there are interior and exterior modifications for the better.
You might find dealer incentives on the old 2005's, if money not a big issue i recommed go for the new body styling 2005.5

The RS4 is too wild.
But its gonna be in the $70K range.
that thing is a beast with 420hp, bigger brakes, and a lot of work on the suspension for amazing handling.

As performance goes its great, as looks go cant compete with the G, and audis' are known to have major troubles which go way back.

Consumer Reports ranks about the same as the above chart.

I had a VW and was going to get an A4, but after having the VW for 5 years, FVCK NO. VW and Audi are some of the poorest rated cars out there. I owned one, but never again.

If you really want more power, spend the $5-7000 and put on a turbo.

Cruz I think you should reconsider and look into the APS twin turbo, it appears to be very reliable for our cars. http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/350z/g35/g35.htm

Sorry to hear that. I love my G35 Coupe.

Dont know why, but I've never been a fan of Audi or anything that they make.

Audis are nice, really like the look, interior and feel, except the new taillights, but one thing for sure unreliable. Unless your planning to lease thats another ballgame, id suggest to stay in the warranty with that car

So I test drove the S4 today...it wasn't the auto that I wanted but none the less WOW! Very solid, awesome power & the sound of the V8 is undescribable. There were no autos to be found in the area so they're looking around for the exact one I want...Black, auto, NAV & upgraded stereo package. I did test drive the an auto TT as well to get the feel for the tranmission & paddle shifters. The shifts are very smooth the only way you can tell you're in a different gear is by the sound of the engine...no lag or hesitation whatsoever. I was very impressed but the salesman & everyone at the dealership was more impressed w/ my G than anything.

yeah, the armada, quest and sentra all got horrible (way below average) reliability rankings, according to consumer reports, and it doesn't help that the titan and altima got average (empty zero) reliability rankings. the only good car is the maxima (which got above avg), but that doesn't exactly help the whole car/truck lineup.

^ congrats, man! yeah, audis are super nice, but the reliability's a real b*tch. in all fairness to the A4 (of which the S4 is derived from), the reliability moved up to "average" (empty zero), so consumer reports can now recommend it.

were you looking at the '05 or the newly freshened '05.5 (? or is it '06?) w/ the new front fascia? it looks pretty nice on the a6, but it has yet to grow on me for the a4.

as far as cars and performance go, i'd say if you didn't need a 4 door sedan (i'm assuming you had a G35 coupe?), go for the E46 M3, although that car's gonna be gone by fall and the successor M4 (coupe) won't be on sale for at least another year. yeah, bimmers have their problems too but from what i read and from friends who actually drive E46s, most of them don't have any problems and say that they're pretty solid, but there's a few that say that the E46 cars literally falling apart (something you almost never hear w/ japanese luxo nameplates). i think the M3 is better because it's based on a rear-wheel drive platform (tho you said you needed AWD) and when CR tested it a few months back, the 4-year old M3 beat out the then "new" 2005 Audi S4 (not the one w/ the new fascia) in terms of handling, etc. etc. The S4 is based on the front-wheel drive A4 and CR said that, aside from obvious performance differences, handling and agility differences were imperceptible to the $35K A4 3.0 quattro.

or, if you're really in to power, you could opt for the RS4, which is coming out heaven knows when. good luck!

yeah, audis are nice. but the new a6's dashboard - wtf?! i went to an autoshow and sat in the new A6 and the interior's gorgeous as usual, but they have this really tacky grey-looking plastic that surrounds the instrument column - man, if you see it in person, it looks cheap, and i can't ever remember thinking that way of any recent audi model.
