When did you "know" you had to have a G?

i was trying to get rid of my 02 accord ex-l 4cyl 5spd coupe, and i was stuck between 05 330ci AT and a 05 g35 AT, looking at the price difference and performance the g was the way for me, and my wife. We both love the car so much, we end up fighting over whos gonna drive when we go somewhere together. Plus my cousins got a 330ci and im so glad i got the car i did. To tell you the truth i think he is jealous of me after driving the g. now im looking to get an s2000 for myself personaly (wifey dosent drive stick)
NYIAS 2002 in April - Once the picture of the coupe was released it was a no brainer. Originally following the XLV concept car a years and half earlier, preordered the sedan and then switched out at the last minute. 30months later, no regrets.
I feel in Love after the unveiling of the car in 2002...
I still remember the first time I saw it on the road, I was driving to Los Angeles from my roots in Santa Barbara and there she was, a brand new Silver G. It was screaming sex and I pointed her out to my sister and mother. I told 'em, mark my word, that will be my car one of these days. (I had just purchased a new '01 Prelude SH a year and a half before) Didn't have money after blowing off $28,600 on the car.
BTW... I used to live in northwest Florida, and the dealerships would let you have a car overnight.

I was actually hoping on getting a Z but since the Nissan dealer didn't want to have anything to do with me...........I ended up in an Infiniti dealer and got myself an 04 coupe. When the sales manager of the Nissan dealer called me he was asking why I didn't get the car I wanted. I told him cause your sales peeps are a bunch of snobs. Then he goes if you're still interested I will take care of you personally. I told him great! Just one thing I already bought a G yesterday and was no longer interested in the Z but thanks for the offer anyways.
It started when I saw the first 03 sedan and asked myself "what the heck was that?
I was coming back from Tampa to Corpus Christi and was on the I-10 bridges in Louisiana. There was an accident and the two lanes were swapping forward progress. I was sitting in the left lane and a red sedan (with doggie door) rolled by on the right.
I was on the internet that evening pricing them out. Almost bought a coupe back then - had the papers on the table and was ready to go, but waved off at the last minute. Thought better of it.
As it is now, I'm glad I did. I couldn't be happier with the sedan, and I got to drive a LOT of cars in between the two event to make sure that the G was the right car. It is.

no epiphany here or star gazing through some dreams.... i knew i needed a new car when my 2 other cars were stolen! why the g? only decent 2 door sports coupe that is left in it's price range (with 4 seats mind u).
For me it was the first time I saw a picture of the coupe. It was a blue one with OEM rear spoiler, 6 MT.
...hey I have that exact same car, I didn't realize it until I just thought about it now.

After selling my modified '97 Mistubishi Eclipse GSX, I really wanted a 6-cylinder import, RWD sports coupe (with back seats) with about 300HP. Due to my son (now three) being born and buying a new house, I fell out of the automotive-news loop. I would have got the Z if it had back seats, because it would have fit the bill. But there was nothing on the market (I thought) that would, so I chose to go with a 1955 Chevy Bel Air 2-door Hardtop. About 6 months later, I read that a coupe version of the G35 sedan (aka "Skyline") was on it's way. I nearly cried, knowing it was going to be just what I wanted.
Several years later I got far enough along on the '55 Chevy project to sell her and make some good cash. Now it's a matter of selling my daily transport ('03 Chevy Cavalier) while waiting for an '05 IP/Stone 6MT to be built (without premium package).
Actually seeing a pic of the coupe really clenched things.
It's been a long wait, but in the meantime the car has seen a bump in power, some interior changes and (hopefully) some mechanical tweaks. It also gave me time improve the '55 before selling (made $7K on it! Sold for $21K!) AND it gave me time to start accumulating all the parts (plus some) in my sig. It's looking like Volks will be feasible by the time the G is delivered as well.
The thought of waiting another few months is killing me!

It was at the 2002 NY Auto Show. I'd traveled all the way from Maryland to see what my just ordered Z would actually look like since I ordered without seeing on first. I got there and the Z was nice but something kept catching my eye....It was tourcher as the Nissan and Infiniti were right next to each other. I spent most of my 8 hours at the show gazing at the G. Everybody that was there remebers that DESERT PLATINUM like it was yesteday. I still have pictures of it in my cubicle. I still received my Z Vin number 0699 out the box but 18 months later I finally pulled the trigger. DG G...Not many people can say the had both....I did and I've appreciated every second.
