Warning about propping open hood in wind
Probably will be a waste of time, but i'll bring it in to them. Its not like I was parked in a tornado. It happened downtown between two midrise buildings.
It is crazy for the winds, loose/defective latch, and me popping the hood to all come together like that. It was really surprising for me and the twisting noise.
Its pretty poor of infiniti to allow the hood to rub and bend like that so easily though. Just weak sheet metal and thin hinges...chalk it up to the price of tight handling and speed.

It wouldn't close at all and when I lifted it up, I realized that a gust of wind had lifted the hood up off the prop and bent it way backwards bending the hinges and the tops of each front quarter panel. It's now an expensive repair. This is probably a design flaw of the hood prop. So, be very careful opening the hood when facing a strong wind.
So whats the point of that second latch? I always just assumed it was there just in case you hit the release while traveling/driving.

I know how you feel. It happened to me about a year ago while I was driving. It was a really frightening experience. I think my hood was not fully latched and when i hit a pot hole, the hood flew open. It damaged both fenders and cracked my windshield. Good thing my insurance covered most of the damage. Now i have new Ings+1 fenders

I've looked at the second latch and it is loose. It will stay to the side when moved. That's clearly a defective part..and it looks like its happened before.
