Do Performance parts for Z work on Coupe?
Do Performance parts for Z work on Coupe?
I have relized that the Z has many more performance parts you can buy then the G35 and since both have same engine how far can us g35 drivers go on buying parts for the Z and installing them on our car ?

Re: Do Performance parts for Z work on Coupe?
As far as I know:
1. Most intakes for the Z will fit the G with a little tinkering.
2. Exhausts for the Z will not directly fit the G, because the G needs slightly longer pipes. No idea on the consequences if you welded on extensions.
3. Wheels - the Z and G have the same bolt pattern, but slightly different offsets. Then again, even Gs with 17"s have a different offset than Gs with 18"s, so the offset is something you can work around (unless it's extremely far off). They can generally handle the same dimensions.
4. Suspension - don't know. The little kits are probably fine.
5. Brake kits - don't know. Probably depends more on your wheels.
6. Nitrous kits - the simpler kits (like Zex) are fine.
7. Chips - highly likely to be compatible, but definitely not in an optimally tuned form. Moot since there aren't any out there yet.
8. Turbo/Supercharger - probably not a good idea, even though it's highly likely you could adapt them to fit the G. Nothing actually on the market yet, but several prototypes for the Z in the works.
9. Cranks/Pulleys - there's at least one set out there sells one box for both Zs and Gs.
What else are you looking at? In most cases you can assume you're not getting optimal tuning when you use Z stuff, but it really depends on the mod.
Edited to add: Just keep in mind that we're still in the initial stages of aftermarket development for these cars. The way it's going to work is that everything is going to get developed for the Z first, because it's the larger (for the moment) and more modification-friendly market. Due to the very low development cost of adapting Z parts for the G, there's good odds that any product that sells well for the Z is going to end up on the G shortly thereafter.

Re: Do Performance parts for Z work on Coupe?
I think that like the guy above pointed out, its a matter of waiting for the larger manufacturers to adapt their stuff to the G.
However, this *may* not happen if they percieve the demand to be pretty small.
Honestly I'm downright AMAZED at the Zs aftermarket support. There are over TWENTY bodykits available already. 3 turbo systems and two superchargers in the works.
I remember waiting on the sidelines for 4 years when I owned my 97 prelude. It was hell seeing the integra guys getting all the great mods first and more - so yes its definitely a "numbers" game.
Hopefully there'll be enough for you.

Re: Do Performance parts for Z work on Coupe?
Thanks JDman and Qirex99 for all the info that cleared up alot. Basically you covered everything and i hope the G gets as many aftermarket products as the Z but i guess we will need to wait and find out. What do u think about a supercharger maybe down the road? And headers and bodykits? i guess i see all these parts for other cars and then nothing is out for the coupe. I understand maybe the age group is a little older then like honda and acura owners but still there are people like me who are young who want it and probaly some older owners who would like to "suup" there car up.

All internals will work. HKS is making a TT kit, but they are using a G35 Coupe and a 350Z. I have pics of HKS's G35C but I lost the webpage.

well the G35 Coupe is Japan's skyline. If we look at past history there is going to be a [censored] load of mods for it.. granted that it was the rb they were dealing with and much more room and wat not and that this car isnt the GTR. i still think that big japanese tuning companies will have to get their hands workin on parts for the G. Only time will tell. But i saw that someone has a G35 Coupe TT in Japan and Top Secret has a G poject on works soo we should expect to see some products from big names.
