Splash Guard Fitment Problem
Splash Guard Fitment Problem
Hi All,
When I picked up my G35, I didnt notice but the left front splash guard is not quite fitting right. The back portion does not adhere to the body as the right one does. I checked and there is nothing I can really do to adjust it that I know of. Its sort of like its warped. Anyways, what should I do? Order a new one? Use some sort of tape on the inside? Any suggestions welcome..... Here is a pic.

there is tape on the inside near the area that is a little seperated. You could try to take it off and replace the tape with the good dark gray 3M double stick tape. But if I were you i would take it back to the dealership and see what they say...should be covered under warranty. They will prob just put another one on.
No need to replace man! Simply turn the wheel hard to access the screws. Remove the splash guard using the old heat gun and fishing line or floss method clean all ashesive off car and splash guard. Now buy some 3M double stick tape.
Wipe the are of the splashguard that will receive the tape with a dewaxer (rubbing alcohol etc) Clean the portion of the car that the spalsh guard will adhere too in the same manner.
Apply tape to splash guard, may wanna use the heat gun to warm the area getting the tape first. Becarefull not to get it too hot to warp the plastic. Warm will suffice. Apply tape and allow it some time to adhere. If you can leave it overnight, all the better. If not, let it sit in the sun for an hour or so.
Wipe the are of the car again. Start to peel a strip (double side part that will go on the car) and peel enough back to tuck it on the outside of the splash guard. You will need to do this for all the "pieces" of tape you applied. Hopefully u are able to put the tape down in 1 or 2 pieces. Now screw it in in the holes already there being sure to kepe the sticky tabs outside. Press flush against car. Now remove the tabs you started and press n hold against car for 15-20 seconds. Use a lil heat from th eheat gun (again not to much) and warm up the spalsh guard. Press and hold again for 15 Seconds. It should sit flush and the new tape should stick like magic!!
When I installed my rears I didn't get all the wax off and I had trouble getting it to stick. I simply wiped it down with true wax remover and that did the trick!
