M3 is a great car, but boy that G was sweet looking. Great taste in vehicles. I read you sold the G for the wedding? The M3 must have set you back a bunch. Was there anything in particular you did not like about the G? I just bought the 05 6MT g coupe, and so far, so good.

Thanks.

Nice, glad you didn't choose that 'baby poo' yellow
How many miles did you put on your new M3 before autocrossing it? Tell us how you like it compared to the G!

To tell you the truth, after looking at your red G and and your white M3, I think the G looks MUCH better. But I guess there were other reasons why you got the M3.

Hmmm in-depth Comparison.... Well Hands down the M is faster... I got into a race with a 6mt G35 Coupe and it was nasty. SMG tranny is incredible, im a die hard 6 speed guy ,but damn SMG is impressive. Let me break it down as best as i Can.

Interior Quality - M has much better fit and finish and the materials are far better...

Comfort - The M's suspension has been updated for 05 and its a tad softer than the G35's. Seats are 1000x better, My g35s seats killed me on long trips, the seat was just too narrow and the damn buttons on the seat cushion were murder!
I picked up my M3 at BMW's performance Delivery Center in South Carolina and drove it to Brooklyn without any discomfort at all. Really is a great seat.

Handling - The M's steering feel a tad quicker with a similar amount of body roll to the G35. Around the AutoX I feel the M understeers even more than the G35 but on mountain roads the suspension feels perfect and i feel much more confidant taken turns at much high speeds...

Braking- Brakes feel great on both Cars, but over all the Brembos from the G35 fade much less than the M's Standard brakes.

Engine - M wins hands down... Up top the M's just keeps pulling like an animal while the G35 is out of breath around 6500. I don’t even notice im approaching 8k till I see the Shift lights activate. Around town the G35 tends to pull harder from 1K - 2500

Tranny- really can’t compare, since my M3 has SMG... Ive driven a 6speed M3, the clutch is longer and the shifter has a longer throw also. So ill give the nod to the G35

Dealership Service... Infiniti Hands Down!! Open Road BMW in Edison , NJ is the pits.

Exterior Styling... Well the G35 is damn sexy and so is the M3 ... you pick

Trunk Space - M3 is atleast double the size, plenty of room to fill it with Audio Equipment

In terms of price

My m3 has the following

Premium Package
SMG
Xenon Lights
Adjustable Width Seat Backs
(I think im forgetting something??)

Sticker with Gas Guzzler tax was 57,995

Hey Sooner I agree with you... my G35 did look better than my M But my M is still Stock and Like Ive said before the G35 is a damn sexy car... But the M3 has been my dream car since I was 17

Oh and as for the AutoXing ... My M3 has 2000 miles on it already. Since I picked it up at the BMW Performance Center I put 900 miles on it bringing it home. And let me tell you It was WORTH EVERY MILE

Congrats X,

Personally, I don't know why anyone would want to compare a stock M3 with a stock G35. The M3 is $20k more and the next car in GT lineage. It's not meant to be a replacement, but an upgrade. Now if I put $20k in my G35c...

Hmmm, doesn't look like over 20 grand in improvements over the G. As for fit and finish, the 05 interior is a closer competitor with the beemer interior. I would expect wayyyyyy more improvements for that kind of cash. Don't get me wrong, I too love the M3s, and have always wanted one, but I just couldnt' see dropping that much cash for a slightly more popular name plate, 33hp, more understeer, less around-town oomph, expensive parts, expensive service, crappier service, and etc. Nice car, but I'll use the extra cash for 2 sport bikes, upgrades, or even another new car like a scion or something with better gas milage than my truck or G.

After owning both... ill tell ya the M is worth every penny... I know the argument on here. For 20k Ill get a blower and some pocket change. Stock M3 is still faster than any of the Blown G35s that the major mags tested and you dont need to worry bout destroying a piston everytime you open it up... and ive sat in the 05, I dont think its much better than the 03's for that matter and to top it off you lost the brembos.

If your driving both of these cars around town ... than the 20k spent on the m3 is a waste... If your going to drive these cars the way there ment to be driven than the M3 will win hands down In Every performance catagory.

Not trying to start a war here... I know the url says G35Driver

Well, more power to ya if you have the expendible income to support the costs associated with racing (abusing) these cars. For many of us, we just can't see spending almost THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for a few 10ths of lap times and 1/4 mile times. The G is what it is. It is a comfortable performance coupe with very respectable performance, luxury, VALUE, and jaw-dropping good looks. This is why it is one of the most revered coupes on the market. Oh, and if performance is the main point of owning one of these cars, why not an STI or a Vette which will slaughter both the M3 and G?

With that kind of cash, how 'bout a Porshe GT3, Lambo, etc?
