I've got the fever
Hi All,
Been a reader here for only a few days since I JUST BOUGHT MY G35 Coupe!!! I absolutely LOVE this car and wanted to share my enthusiasm.
I had been in the market to get out of my SUV and into a car again for about a year. I was pretty fickle about it all as I love convertibles, sport sedans and coupes. I had considered several vehicles with the 350Z being at the top of the list because I used to own and old 280Z that I rebuilt myself and I've had a taste for Nissan sports cars ever since. I've driven both the convertible and the Track model before and was impressed however I was starting to get concerned about the feathering issue that is so common on the Z boards. I was still interested though and I simply wanted to figure out whether or not to get a Roadster or a coupe. The Roadster doesn't look so hot to me with the top up and in the Pacific Northwest the top would be up a lot. The coupe has no option for a sunroof so that was the only thing making me hesitate. I've not had an open top of any sort for a very long time and I decided that it was a must have.
Because of these two factors I started to consider other cars. I drove a 2000 Boxster S with only 35K miles. Now this is a nice car and the deal was a good one. The car had the upgraded mesh wheels, full leather interior and upgraded sound system and headlights. This car moved quite well but was a bit too rough for daily driving for me. One of the things that held me back on this buy was the fact that I see far too many Audi/VW/Porsches on the road with bad tailights or electrical issues in general. I see this personally and hear about it from friends that are owners. Being a used Porsche I decided that the cost of upkeep would be too great. Damn it was sweet though.
Next stop was a fluke. I took a wrong turn and found myself in front of the Inifinity dealership in Kirkland, Washington. I thought, "what the heck". So I pulled in. Now, I had been in once before about a year ago when I was interested in an FX. NICE rig to say the least but at the time I was not ready to fork over the green. This time I was interested in the G35 but I was not sure if I wanted a sedan or coupe. Well, when I drove in I noticed a Lakeshore Slate coupe 6MT with 19's and I liked it. So, my old rep Chuck walked out and we started chatting. He told me what was new for the G35 and handed me the keys to one of the demos. I drove all over Kirkland and scared my girlfriend half to death with my "test drive". I was hooked. I drove back about an hour later and walked up to Chuck and said, "I want one". Three hours later I drove a 2005 Lakeshore Slate on Stone leather G35 Coupe off the showroom floor with...

That was it. I had only driven one other car that day and it was the Boxster. The two Z's I drove were from a few months ago but once I drove the G I KNEW it was the one to have. Solid construction, nice details, good list of options, and very respectable power.
I'm going to add a small aftermarket spoiler to the back as the one offered by Infinity is, in my opinion, too big,(no offense to those that have one). Aside from that I don't see much that could be changed on the car. Maybe aftermarket DVD Nav but that is it. In the next few weeks I'm returning to have the clear 3M bra applied.
This past week has been pretty funny as my bosses have made a few comments. One drives an 05 SL500 and he's shocked how nice it is and the options it has for the money. I took him for a ride this morning to help him run an errand and he is VERY impressed with the quality, power and value. My other boss has a C6 and all he says is that it's a nice car but he could still smoke me
Hehe. Yes, yes he could.
Anyway, I thought I'd share because I'm pretty excited. Thanks to all the members here for making this a lively board. I'm happy to be a part of it now.

Yep, sorry. It is standard on the 6MT. Btw, the outdoor shots were taken on Chuckanut Drive coming up just south of Bellingham, Washington. Anyone from Washington interested it is the first exit once you pass Burlington going North. It is a fantastic short detour off of I-5 to see some excellent scenery of Puget Sound and some of the lower San Juan Islands not to mention it is a great road to give your suspension a work out. It can be tight at times but if you use good judgement you should be able to enjoy it quite a bit.
