Haven't seen a review on that particular unit, but C&D has a review of all kinds of performance metering devices this month. They compare them all to their VBOX and the results are pretty interesting.

A rev speed meter alone would be worthless. I used to have a SAFC and you could adjust your fuel air ratio, which would net more hp and you could also use the rev meter. It had something else on it too, but I never used it, mostly just left it on the rpm display (with numbers, not gauge) and made it freeze at the top rpm to see my shift points.

Actually the R-Vit reads just about everything about your engine - AF ratio, oil temp, 'correct' rev meter.... irvine78 has it on his car and it works very well. I am waiting for the next gen R-Vit unit (forgot the name) with color LCD display.
