How long did your Eagle RS-A last on 17"?
I have searched and did not find any direct results in the Coupe forum and the tire/wheel forum.
First, I have a 2004.5 G35C i got in Nov '04 and after 10,500 my rear OEM 17" Goodyear RS-A are about 5/32 left. Is that normal? Also, the center tread is wearing much faster than the side. I read some review on tirerack and that seem to be a problem for others too. They are starting to lose their grip as they are going bald and need to be replaced soon.
Is there anything I can get the dealer to do about the fast treadwear? I know they are rated at 260, but man that wore out fast! I was hoping to get atleast 20K out of them....
Finally, any comments on the Avon M500? That seems to be #1 in the tirerack review.

hmm, I have the same tire/wheel setup that you have now on my car. I have 7600 miles on it, and at the 7500 mile service the dealer didnt point out any problems. From personally looking at the tires they seem to be ok, although they do slip a little more than they should.
My suggestion is, depending on your climate, get some higher quality summer tires with some nicer wheels. I think thats what I am going to do. I am considering buying someones used 19" perf. wheel/tire setup when they want to upgrade to aftermarkets. Hope I could help.

Yes, this is a known issue on the coupes with 17". Don't have time to search the threads, but there are some here. Not all of them do it, but a signficant percentage of the RS-A wear exactly as you described... mine included. I'm at 15,000 miles and my rears need replacing due to center rib wear. I haven't pursued the dealership about it because (IMO) it would take a tremendous effort to "prove" that the wear is excessive, and that my driving was not to blame.
I plan to either upgrade to a set of new 18" OEM takeoffs, or just get 2 replacement RS-A s for the rear. Depends on how my bonus looks next month.

Got my coupe in Dec 02. Just replaced these tires with Toyo Proxes 4. I got 20,000 out of the Goodyear's with the exact same wear. Right rear center, really worn, almost a slick. Left rear worn, but not as bad, still needed replacement. Fronts I could have gotten another 5000 easy. Those Tires BLOW!!! I am very happy with the Toyos...see my post in the Wheel Forum.
