Tonight traveling south on Florida's Turnpike I am cruising at around 85-90 when i got over a small bridge but with a decent smooth bump. Right after the bridge the car starts vibrating and I hear this metal clunking sound coming up from under the car. It was coming from the middle in between the front and rear seats.
From this I would have to say its probably drivetrain related and somewhere between the transmission and the rear differential. Needless to say i did not make it down south and Infiniti roadside got the tow truck to me in just under an hour, which wasnt bad. My car now sits at Orlando Infinti.
Just wondering if anybody has heard or had this problem. Is this just a random case?

If you couldn't go anywhere, then your tranny let out. They will most likely replace it...hopefully you get a new clutch too (if 6mt)...goodluck.
I could definately move the car. The service writer actually drove it, pretty much from where the tow truck dropped it off to the service bay, about 150ft. It was definately metal agaisnt metal and it was coming from the front of the rear wheels.
was your ride cushy or was it stiff? I wonder if you your RCA's are busted. Very unlikely though

Keep us posted; I was crusing around Myrtle Beach the other weekend and hit a bump when I heard a similar noise. I pulled over and checked everything, but I saw no problem. I started the car up and pulled away, with NO NOISE... I have not heard the noise since. Please let us know what you find out form the dealership; I also have a 2003 "G" Coupe.

SO here is the deal for those of you that are interested. Apparantly a bolt from the drive shaft came lose or broke from hitting the exhaust. The Problem was fixed but you guys should check to make sure there is nothing touching.

Sounds pretty serious/dangerous if a driveshaft bolt came off. Was the dealer concerned? Have they seen this before?
Glad you are all set.
