We don't have 'Tiptronic' transmissions. You want a Tiptronic, buy a Porsche.

I use the manual mode of my 5AT probably 40% of the time I'm behind the wheel. Depends on traffic, what I'm doing, etc.

I think you could use your manual mode as it's designed 100% of the time with no ill-effects. No reason to think otherwise. Treat it like you would any manual and it'll be fine, only it'll be smoother and have less vibration LOL..

I live in So. Calif. I use the manual mode whenever I'm in traffic, which is most of the time.

I use manual mode about 70% or more. If I m stuck in traffic or something then I don't use it.

ditto on vin's comment... i use MM around 70-80% of the time. only time i don't use it is either a) stuck in traffic or b) long highway cruises

at least 70% of time. It's fun to use it and i like to hear the exhaust tones. As long as you don't rev too hard all the time, i think it's fine. Afterall, it's a Skyline from Japan ^.^

It's NEARLY the same as having a real MT

I tried the system out in a loaner Sedan. I found leaving it in Auto was better overall. The shifting was too lazy(delayed) to use with ease. You really need to anticipate the shifts for performance driving. I'm sure it would be easier with more time with it, as I was a bit clumsy with it, but I definitely prefer my 6MT.

As far as it's effect on performance, I see no reason why it would cause any problems with durability other than the wear and tear associated perhaps with keeping revs high if thats how you use it.
