+ and - of clear bumper coat.

It's obvious that the clear bra will protect the car from the road ahead.

I am planning to get M3 eqvi coating on my bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors. It will cost me about 530 with labor. I know it's a good thing to get.

So besides the cost, what are some disadvantages???

Good product. Just make sure it's installed correctly. I keep getting water underneath the clear bra when I wash it. Gotta push the bubbles out.

I asked the same question of my installer and he says you just wax overtop of the 3M.
Great product.

i think if you're getting water under the clearbra every time you wash the car, it wasn't installed correctly on your car. the clearbra film has adhesive on the underside (quite strong) and should be, basically, an additional clearcoat on the car. you should be able to bring it back to your installer and have it redone....it should be under warranty (4-5 years).

as far as the "cons" of getting the clearbra, i can only think of the price, but it's all worth it. also, on the hood, you can see the line going across where the film ends. it's not a big deal and some ppl have opted to have the entire hood covered for better protection and to avoid the line.

I got just the front bumber done for $300. It was the best investment I've made on my car.

Where can I go and get this installed. I live just outside of Philly. Does the dealer offer this, or a good autobody shop?

The shop in Albuquerque did my G35's bumper and mirrors for $300 (used the 3M product). They said it could be waxed, but to not use an electric buffer. They also said to hold any power wash nozzle at least 6 inches from it.

the more coats of clear/paint on a panel, the more susceptable it is to chipping....believe it or not...the more layers add weight to the paint and makes it easier for the primer to pull off of the panel with the paint...in big chunks no less....stick with the clear bra's....perfect solution...

Clear Bra's will cost me about 520 for the hood, fenders, bumper and the mirrors installed. I think that's a good deal. =)

I can attest to this. I've had my front bumper on my '95 Trans Am painted 3 times now. First was changing the body color from white to blue, 2nd was repainting the whole car due to some issue (can't even remember at this point why), and third was when some lady backed into me. My front bumper has so many large paint chips it's aweful. Reason is each time you repaint...it doesn't get sanded all the way to the bumper and has a small layer of the previous paint.

Getting it redone this week but before painting, the bumper is getting a sandblast treatment to get all the previous paint off. Not sure how long I'm going to have this car for so not sure if I want to go clear bra on it, but I have a month to decide on that while the paint sets anyway.
