Heated Seats

Does anyone else have difficulty with determining if their heated seats actually work. Even on high they dont throw off much heat and at times I think I feel heat when my passenger turns theirs on and mine is off. Wired wrong? Is it in any way tied into the temperature controlls so it wont work unless my heater is on? Any help would be appreciated.

Also I am getting a lot of movement and sqeaking in the drivers seat while driving. Anyone else?

Re: Heated Seats

Some have reported incorrect wiring (backwards) on their heated seats. On mine when I turn one on I can feel heat within a couple minutes both on the seat and seat back.
There have been a few issues with D/S in the Coupe, but I've not heard many. The dealer is aware of the problem, and has a fix. G/L

Re: Heated Seats

I'm wired correctly. However, here in So Cal I never use the heat. Had to test though when I first got the "G" and forgot I had switched on until my wallet started to smoke??? Serously, my seat really got warm quickly.

Re: Heated Seats

My seat gets warm, but that's about it. My other cars seats emit 2x the heat.

Re: Heated Seats

I remember reading a review that said they could not feel the heat very much. Sorry, searched but did not find. Sounds like there's a lot of variance out there! Maybe your connections need cleaning?!?

Re: Heated Seats

I didn't use my seat heater much (just a personal preference) but my girlfriend used it all throughout Jan-May and always said that it just gets warm.
I think she's comparing them to the BMW's which can get really hot, really fast.

Re: Heated Seats

Most likely your seats are working just fine. The reason I say this is b/c I thought I had the same problem and went strait to my dealer. All of our seats have thermostats in the heating elements, or something like that. The reason it's not getting "hot" is because your seat is not cold enough or it is not cold enough outside. I did some testing, and waited for a cold day back in March, and to my suprise they worked just fine, and of course they don't get real hot like BMW's, why would you want that? I have set in hot *** heated seats before, like my fathers F-150 lariat and it is very uncomfotorable, warm is where it's at. hope this helps.....MASTERSR6

Re: Heated Seats

My heated seats are working fine, not too hot not too cold. I do know what your talking about with the Squeak thing my seat started doing it one day then it went away and then it came back one morning, bad morning too, needless to say I was mighty pissed off. I moved the seat back up and back down a couple times and I havent heard the sqeuak since.

Re: Heated Seats

I tested mine out by just running the motor in the driveway, and switching my seats on "hi" to see if they got hot. They both worked okay, but it took about 8 minutes before I could definitely tell there was heat being generated.

I'm hoping MasterSR6 is right, that they just won't get that hot while the weather is warm. If they don't get any warmer than this, they'll be worthless come wintertime.

No squeaks or noise, though. My seats are pretty solid.

Re: Heated Seats

Thanks for all the responses. I'm hoping that it just wont allow the seat to get hot unless my "Butt" is cold due to the thermostat in the seat. If that the case then I be happy.
