I test drove a CTS-V last year... thought about getting one. I was concerned with different issues, and not too crazy about the interior.

But from a pure driving perspective, it was a whole lotta fun. Not just straight line acceleration - it handles quite well. Development on the Nurburgring will do that to you...

I could see a CTS-V in my future when the redesign it (especially interior) in the next couple of years and put the 6.0L engine in it. Yikes.

Congrats - good choice with the CTS-V. I can tell you right now its a great motor in that car since its the same one in my Z06.

I'm thinking of buying a slightly used CTS-V like you did when it comes time to replace the G35. You're absolutely right - they depreciate quickly and you can find incredible deals on them second hand, like you did.

I'm not sure when I'll get a CTS-V, but I will get one. A lot of it depends on how much more grief my G35 gives me with its POS clutch & transmission since my lease is up in June. I was going to buy it at the end of the lease, but I'm not sure now with all these tranny problems I'm having with my G.

The only thing I don't like about the CTS-V is the interior. The gauges, seats, and nav system are all nice, but that's about it. I hate the steering wheel and dashboard design. I've heard they are redesigning the CTS interior for 2006, and from what I've seen of GM's latest interiors, it should be nice and worth waiting for. But that will put me at 2007 by the time I find a lightly used 2006 model. So I'm thinking of buying my G35 and keeping it until then.

Also, it's getting the LS2 for 2006. I believe this was confirmed on the GM's weblog.

Can't blame you for doing that... CTS-V is one amazing sedan although I would have gone for different car myself if I was spending that kind of money. Anyway, I guess you chose the wrong car in the first place. I hope you're happy with your next!

Do you have the Brembro brakes? If so would you be interested in swapping brakes this weekend. I will pay you for your time. Why give them to a dealer. Let me know please!! PM me or hit me up here.

as for the brakes I would sell my brembo crossed rotors( about 10000 miles) cheap but I don't think I would take off the calipers it might hurt the trade in. and It's stupid but i never seam to hold on to cars for long doesn't mean I like the G any less, I stll have a sweet spot for my 1st (nice) car 94 SC300 5 speed. I think the G is a classic and is top 3 in all time japan's car history up there with the 2000gt and the skyline's my be looked back one day as japan's vett or 911

The dealer wouldn't know the difference. I used to sell cars. They would just take it as it is. But I understand your concern. If you change your mind let me know and I' ll be there quick.

i believe that's incorrect. i think they're going back to northstar with a supercharger. i don't think the ls2 will fit in the bay. but i could be wrong... someone please confirm.

Actually you have it backwards - the LS2 will fit in the engine bay of the CTS, but the Northstar will not, even without a supercharger. The DOHC 4 valve heads of the Northstar make it dimensionally too large (too wide and tall) to fit in the engine bay of the CTS. That was why they went with the LS6 in the CTS-V - it was dimensionally much smaller than the Northstar so it fit well, despite having much larger internal displacement. One of the advantages of a pushrod design.

The LS2 has the same exact external dimensions as the LS6 and the old LS1 motor. The LS2 is basically a bored or stroked (can't remember which) LS1/LS6 which bumped its displacement from 5.7L to 6.0L. But if you look at the external dimensions of the engine, its the same. Same thing even with the 7.0L 427 monster (LS7) in the new Z06. It has the same external dimensions as the other LS series motors, yet cranks out 505hp. Which of course makes you wonder if they'll offer the LS7 in the CTS-V at some point. It'll definitely fit!

Its too big for the CTS. They would have to make the car bigger which is why they have the STS!
